Of course you’re allowed to like him and root for him and hope he proves doubters wrong. If he does well a lot of us skeptical of the pick will be thrilled the team got value from a 55th pick.

Unfortunately Lonzo got hurt a lot and Bronny with his knee injury reminds me of that. The last thing Bronny needs is more setbacks.

I saw a lot of poor defense out there today. He would retreat with speed, and stay in front of the ball handler, but then in the final step fail to attempt any type of contest. Got beat when his opponent went right, forcing Castleton to rotate, and Bronny's man making the easy dish for a layup. His POA defense is not looking good right now.

I assume that will improve as preseason goes a long when he gets film sessions with the coaching staff and Lebron. Also when he gets practice time with the real team and is around Vando and Gabe. Hopefully the vets and Lebron teach him good habits and fundamentals

Does not look for his shots... But they missed him a few times.

Is it me or it feels like some of his teammates are freezing him out or not looking for him at all.

That’s exactly how he played at USC. Lot of minutes, no threat to score, just out there running up and down the floor hoping to snag a rebound or loose ball

Maybe they don’t have confidence in his scoring ability.

Had some nice defensive moments. He’s just got nothing offensively. It’s going to be a challenge to stick as a 6’1 defensive specialist. He will need to become a strong C&S shooter to stay on the floor.

Might be able to play in the rotation based on defense alone. If he locks in on that end I can see him getting minutes. He’s not a high usage player offensively and he doesn’t make many mistakes once the ball touches his hands. If he can play great defense and shoot 35% on spot up 3’s he can get minutes. His defense is above average imo and will only get better with experience and reps against nba talent.

I’m ready for all the negativity lol 😂

Defense above average? Seriously? How could possibly know? He hasn’t guarded any NBA players

Well, it's unfortunate that lebron declared he's better than other nba talent, when that's not clear at all.

He's just gotta cut and do the dirtywork. Think small Vando.

You have to have a PG to pass to a cutter. You won't see much come of that on our SL team.

He hunts triple singles. Doesn't have any on ball skills to really create anything for himself, and at his size, and (lack of) shooting, he makes a terrible off-ball player as well.

Practically invisible while on the floor.

Shouldn't the necessary skills at least be visible right now against non-NBA players? Is he taking it easy during SL?
Maybe he'll get better. Or maybe his place in the NBA is for a role like a Patrick Beverly, an instigator, a player with a very limited skill-set but gets under opponent's skin and is somehow occasionally useful.
Non is Bronny's fault of course, Julian Lennon or Jakob Dylan or Wolfgang VH didn't choose to have great fathers.

Nothing to read into regarding being frozen out, this is a showcase opportunity for many of these guys, they want to make an impression not help Bronny. Highly doubt there's anything personal there.

Players blow by him and he plays to recover. This would hurt a
bunch in the NBA.

Don't know if he guard fast PG's which could be the shortest man on the
opposition.

His contract shoulda been Castleton’s but ok, let’s how Bronny does in the G-League this season. Crazy we’re gonna have JHS, MaxL and Bronny, all regular contract, all G-league

How can his offense be this bad? He showed nothing offensively at USC and same thing so far in the summer league.

He's going to need to improve his handle and playmaking, or he's going to need to become a knockdown three point shooter. Otherwise, it will be difficult to play him.

What I find more alarming is that many of these people are OBESE.

They are spending more time whining about Bronny instead of taking care of their health. Insanity.

To his credit, I think he will work towards that role. Not this year. In a year with lots of reps and experience I think we can pencil him in for some backup minutes off the bench in the 25-26 season. I do think he can be a rotational level NBA player if the 3 ball becomes a weapon.

A lot of players have this false sense they need to be stars when they can’t even be one. So they never end up finding a role. He seems to already be well aware of who he needs to become.

Developing a good 3 point shot percentage with his shooting mechanics shouldn’t be out of the equation. Best case scenario maybe he can be a player you can rely on for 5-6 three point attempts a game, defense, energy and some initiating the offense. Ironically, a team that has a ball dominant great scoring 2 who has PG skills, Bronny may fit in with a situation like that. Very few teams want a PG that really isn’t able to carry the load, but teams with ball dominant 2s can be. We won 5 rings with Fisher as our starting PG. If I’m Lebron, I look to position to Bronny on a team like that eventually (if the Lakers aren’t able to eventually get an elite 2).

Of course you are allowed. And you do like him - you were destined to like him, it goes hand in hand with how much you love Lebron. This is not a shot, but I would hope all Lebron fans on this forum can ride with his kid too. He needs it.

As per Bronny being Lonzo? Lonzo has 4-5 inches on him. That’s a huge difference defensively. Even if Bronny is able to get to that Lonzo-tier defence it means nothing when you’re that small. Again, Davion Mitchell is Bronny on steroids and he might be out of the league soon. Lastly, Lonzo had elite level playmaking. The shot was suspect out of the gate so I’ll give Bronny time to get there too. Regardless, Lonzo was the catalyst on a first place Bulls team. Shooting 40%+ from 3, best perimeter defender, and top 3 court vision/playmaking. Probably the most underrated player in the league right before his injury. Bulls fell apart once he went down.

Plenty of small hustle guys in the G league and Europe. A 4 year deal was a hilarious nepo contract. Only people happy with it are Lebron fans.
