The totality of the supporting cast isn't good enough.
AR had bad games, was a brick from 3, and also offers nothing on defense. Rui was literally worse than DLo and offers nothing on defense.
Vando offers nothing on offense. The others don't offer anything consistently either way.
You know the Lakers are in big trouble when Max Christie is being shooed-in for an important role, someone who's done NOTHING in the NBA.
The one defense of keeping DLo on this team is that nobody on the team should be the main parts of the supporting cast.
If AR and Rui can get the Lakers those player(s) and DLo can't, then the Lakers should do those trades while keeping DLo.
It would be advantageous for the Lakers to use DLo to get those player(s) since he's an expiring contract and AR is locked into a solid contract, but it doesn't seem like it's possible at this point.
Sure for a real game-changer like Don Mitchell then you do it. Ship out Reaves/Rui and whatever else. Expensive guys thrown around like LaVine, Ingram - NO. If we could get the Nets boys for a reasonable price then go for it. AR offers nothing on defense despite what he did on Murray and the effort he expended there but you harp for a guy like LaVine whose defense is what exactly???? At least AR offers a winners intangibles as a role player. Thats a question mark with LaVine.

I kinda agree with this take but also think most supporting casts can be reduced down this way if you really want. I think you undersell AR's usefulness and Rui being uniquely bad against Denver due to their frontline.
But the point you made about Christie is 100% right, and I say this as someone who likes Christie. He's really a placeholder for a true NBA starter caliber 3&D guard. We don't have that guy so we're hoping Christie can grow into it.
I tend to think of supporting casts in terms of how they perform in big moments. It's not like Fish or Horry or Fox were regularly great. But when the lights got brighter they could be counted on.
Reaves may be the only one in that cast of tue current group. Maybe Gabe too. _________________ Los Angeles Lakers Leadership: Jeanie Buss, Robert Pelinka, Kurt Rambis, LeBron James, Rich Paul.
I think this team will be entering its 3rd season together this upcoming season. I think we should give the core a chance with a new head coach.
Maybe reddick can have a similar impact on wins to what Kerr had in GS. I understand that was a young team, but they had been together a few years before he arrived.
I have high hopes for this team. We will have established chemistry coming out the gates this season. I can’t wait _________________ “like I never left”

Yea the Lakers had it good with those guys. This team is moreso Sasha/Farmar/Mbenga. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points."

I just wonder why ever since Russell opted in .. why the FO hasn’t come out and supported Russell but instead have tried to trade him a few times, 1 of the scenarios had him going to GS while we would have landed Klay, they didn’t want him, Portland doesn’t want him, we all know DLO’s best fit is with the Lakers, I have no idea why the Lakers and Pelinka don’t come out in public and support him while trade rumors have been swirling all summer long, especially when next year is so Important, you would think they would do it for the benefit of the team.

Probably because... they still hope to trade him before the deadline if possible? I agree it's very unlikely to get anything back for him that will make make us a clear better team this upcoming Season but I don't think them coming out and supporting DLo is going to do much at this point.. Nobody would even believe it and still know they are shopping him regardless.

Gotta look and see who DLO is, he’s that guy that wants to to be loved and if he isn’t, he’s gonna start pulling crap while creating a toxic situation, the Lakers know about what handling big egos looks like
Jj wants us taking more 3’s. Dlo will probably break his own laker single season record if he plays all year with us. _________________ “like I never left”

You trying to d-up and you're getting jerry curl juice all in your eye. I'm surprised they let him keep it. lol
AC Green was over here looking like Billy Ocean
I had a funny bottle episode idea involving AC Green for that HBO showtime show.
It’s all the players. Magic, Worthy, Kareem all talking about the parties they’re going to over the weekend, the celebrities they are gonna meet, the awesome opportunities and events they have access to. And then the camera just follows AC Green home. Where he just drinks hot coco and reads the Bible by the fireplace all weekend. For the whole episode.
Maybe he even gets a call from his teammates. When they are out having fun. And he thinks they are going to invite him. But no, they just want him to swing by the practice facility. Cause they forgot to put something in their locker. _________________ When the world grows. Don't choose to stay the same.

I was just thinking that DLO not dunking the ball reminds me of the NCAA rules in the 60's, when the UCLA greats were not allowed to dunk. DLO is kind of a throwback to that era... _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions!

I read somewhere that Magic and the gang would send up women to AC Green's hotel room to try to get him to cave in. They would take bets on how long he could keep his vow of chastity. They would try to break him. I dont know how long I would be able to stay the course.
I mean, its the showtime Lakers for chrissake. Even the owner was a freak. Then there were the Laker girls SMH. AC Green was a Jedi

I have so much respect for AC Green. Now THAT is a real man. Not to mention that dude was an excellent power forward for us and really completed the Showtime Lakers replacing the inadequate Rambis. Kermit Washington was the perfect power forward for the Showtime Lakers but once he was traded, we had no one that was truly adequate for that position until Green came along.
