I grew up listening to KOST in the early 1990's, and "Never Gonna Let You Go" was a staple in their rotation at that time. Love that song. |

That was the like the official song of KOST. Always thought of the dick clark ads whenever I heard it. I didn't find out it was Sergio's song until yesterday.

Loved Brazil 66, less so Brazil 77 and beyond. Still, Sergio did an incredible job commercializing the music of Tom Jobin & Gilberto Gil. I discovered their brilliance through Sergio's covers and it opened up a new world for me.
He was probably the greatest cover artist in the world, but wrote some decent music of his own, too.
RIP, Mr. Mendes!
