I hate being that guy but it is Helene. I rode out 3 in south Louisiana, I made sure that the tub was full of water, I had plenty of batteries and that the bar was stocked. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

8PM EDT: This is nothing short of astronomical. I am at a loss for words to meteorologically describe you the storms small eye and intensity. 897mb pressure with 180 MPH max sustained winds and gusts 200+ MPH. This is now the 4th strongest hurricane ever recorded by pressure on this side of the world. The eye is TINY at nearly 3.8 miles wide. This hurricane is nearing the mathematical limit of what Earth's atmosphere over this ocean water can produce.

One positive of hurricane Milton headed right for me is it’s let me direct my anxiety towards that instead of the election for once.
Don’t worry election, my anxiety will soon be back. And in greater numbers.
Reading you .. I think you Got this.. yes?
Like how does this work.. Underground safety that cannot flood?
4th Strongest Hurricane recorded in history, so far...
I don’t know we’ll see. I’m not concerned about storm surge since I’m not near the ocean. There are lakes around us, but most are probably 1000 feet plus away. Wind is definitely a concern. I doubt me or my family is in any danger since our house was built in 2012 and is cinder block construction. But I’m counting on significant roof damage and other damage. Dealing with the mess that is insurance in Florida will be interesting.

Thank you very much for the update.
I have never really dealt with any weather capable of being called a disaster...
Double check those checklists you made for these times
Best of luck to you and yours.

Yea a Hurricake was definitely on the list. My kids insist on it when a storm comes. I got a “Hazelnut Indulgence Cake: Chocolate cake iced in hazelnut cream cheese icing. Made with Nutella and enrobed in chocolate ganache.”
