Republican senators are already stating they will not affirm any SCOTUS judges that Harris appoints should she win. This is another reason you can't give them control of the Senate. If you can donate a few bucks to Senators on the bubble or the DSCC I'd consider it.

Murkowski might be crucial in the next term.

It might come down to 50-50, and the Walz breaking the tie for judicial appointments.

Trump goes to Georgia and makes up a lie that Kemp can't get help from Biden.

Kemp on the same day says that Biden called him yesterday and that they talked and Biden offered whatever Georgia needs.

The lying never stops, even during a natural disaster.

I repeat, the Repuklican plan if Trump wins the Oval Office, invoke the 25th amendment. They have video proof of his incompetence. If successful we'd still be in deep doo-doo because Vance would become President.

I don't think they will do that because that will alienate Trump's voters.

More likely, they will invent some excuse for him to resign and Vance will pardon him subsequently for all crimes.

All Trump wants is to avoid jail.

But if McConnell or his successor is Senate Leader, it won't even get a hearing much less a vote. Just like Merrick Garland. That's what they are threatening.

More and more Republicans are distancing themselves from Trump. His unwillingness to listen to party leaders may be his undoing.

For Gov. Mike DeWine, the attacks on Haitians near his Ohio hometown are personal – and so is the cost of Trump’s and J.D. Vance’s vicious demonization of legal immigrants.

Unless they say they are voting for Kamala Harris, they are still on team Trump no matter what else they say.

Yes, they are. My thinking on Repuklicans confronting Trump. How many undecided will that move to the Harris camp? Undecideds are important.

Today's exercise in futility:

Senate Democrat introduces bill to expand Supreme Court

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden (D) introduced a bill on Thursday that would bring fundamental changes to the nation’s high court, including adding six additional seats and forcing all justices to have their tax returns publicly disclosed.

The senator’s office said the Judicial Modernization and Transparency Act aims to “restore balance among the three branches of government, increase transparency to improve public trust in America’s courts, and modernize the courts to ensure greater access to justice for more Americans.”

Wyden says he introduced the bill to overhaul the court in the face of its “legitimacy crisis.”

He also acknowledged that the bill very likely will not pass, but hopes portions of the bill will eventually be implemented to bring about “some balance,” according to a statement obtained by The Washington Post.

Comer subpoenas Mayorkas for information on Walz, China
BY EMILY BROOKS - 09/30/24 4:10 PM ET
https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4907810-homeland-security-subpoena-minnesota-gov/
Quote:
House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) subpoenaed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday for information relating to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president, and a vague alleged connection to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Comer said in a letter accompanying the subpoena — issued on the day before the vice presidential debate between Walz and Republican Sen. JD Vance (Ohio) — that his committee received whistleblower disclosures about “serious concern among Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel regarding a longstanding connection between” Walz and China.

After Trumps Springfieldnacht comments I think a great group that could come out in support of Kamala would be some Police Commissioners Union.. that kind of rhetoric should get them worried

Trump basically said "his" people can come out and beat the (bleep) out of retail shoplifters and other people they've been told to be against.

Is he seeking out a way to dig deeper into the brains of magas who are already thinking about or are predisposed to violence. Through His words They envision themselves as one of Trump's people beating up anyone HE told them is lower than them etc

You have to wonder if his violent rhetoric didn't encourage people like Rhittenhouse? *Criminal trial somehow missed his texts about wanting to shoot shoplifters but civil trial found them .. hmm pfft

The timing on this couldn’t be worse, and unless it’s resolved really quickly, it’s a negative for democrats. If the administration supports the workers and strike goes on for awhile, the impacts the economy will be will be bad for democrats. If Biden steps in, democrats are seen as not supporting unions, also bad for democrats.

I know that many who travel these parts don't think the NY Times is a fair arbiter of the news. By this, I suspect Trump doesn't either:

My gosh I hope this isn't true..

Quote:
Iran preparing imminent missile attack against Israel: Senior U.S. official

Barak Ravid

The U.S. has indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel, a senior White House official tells Axios.

The big picture: Tehran has been vowing retaliation after a series of recent Israeli assassinations. The White House believes it is about to begin, and is already warning of "severe consequences" for Iran.

"We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack. A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran," the White House official said.
A senior Israeli official tells Axios the latest intelligence is that the attack will be carried out in the next few hours. The warning from the U.S. came at around noon local time (5am ET), the official said.
Driving the news: The warnings of an imminent attack came just hours after Israel escalated its conflict with Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militia, by launching a ground invasion of southern Lebanon.

Iran has been promising retaliation against Israel for two months, since the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

All of these Red State Republican senators and congress people who were hit by the hurricane voted against FEMA disaster relief only days ago, yet now are demanding that same relief be delivered quicker. They are an entire party of hypocrites, liars and cranks. They have no business controlling any levers of government. From Trump on down, they only care about their own power, never about their constituents except to con them for their votes.

I hope it doesn't happen, but in the past they usually target in such a way that creates minimal damage. They feel the need to do a (bleep)-for-tat response, but at the same time they are not dumb enough to go beyond that to a real escalation. So, we'll see.

Quote:
Flashback: Iran launched a massive drone and missile attack against Israel in April in retaliation for another Israeli airstrike that killed a top Iranian general in Syria, the first time Iran had directly attacked Israeli territory.

Most of the drones and missiles were intercepted by Israeli, U.S., British, French, Jordanian and Saudi forces outside of Israeli airspace, and there were several injuries in Israel but no fatalities.
