Btw: After today we will be bottom 5 on defense despite having AD who is one of the best defenders in the league. |

This is essentially why he never wins the DPOY award |

He still has a lot to learn. I don’t know if they were pointing it out on the TV broadcast, but when AD got poked in the eye in the 1st quarter, he waited three possessions to call a timeout and we were playing 4v5. |

AD carried that feeling throughout the game too and played frustrated after that. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

AD individually is a great defensive player but to be a DPOY player you need to have your team following your suit and that doesn’t happen with the group of players we have |

Tough matchup.
Cleveland has guards that can expose our guards defensively.
And they have more bigs than us.
Glad we only see them twice a year. _________________ When the world grows. Grow with it. |

Not really. You just need to have the narrative. AD is the best defender in the league and the best two way player in the league.
As a team however the Lakers need Vando back, particularly on the nights when the bigs switche every screen and leave guards defending centers. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

pretty much - they have continuity and pretty good new coach that will take advantage of their lead dogs. _________________ Iman Shumpert, believes LBJ's decision to constantly team up with other All-Stars eschewed the idea of superstars continually adding layers to their repertoire. |

Seems like they weren’t running plays as often either or at least not effectively. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points." |

Lakers are just AD and friends. Relying on AD way too much and got exposed tonight. _________________ Lakers used to average one championship every four years but I'd gladly take one every ten years now. |

JJ after 5 games... Definitely can coach and an improvement. Team however still have the same 2 glaring problems since last season.
1.) Depth or bench productivity
2.) Starting front court not athletic enough and barely provides any type resistance on defense.
Side note: JJ really need to figure out his 2nd unit rotation. Because it seems like every time we go with Christie/Vincent/Hayes the lead gets bigger or our lead goes away.
This team still a player or 2 away from really contending. Sucky part about it, there's really no one out there right now. Plus it's hard to make a move when we have a few guys that no one wants.

No, he felt they regressed to bad habits and felt that was evidence that they need to emphasize things harder.
Good. The team played very disciplined the first 3 games even when thing went bad they didn't resort to selfish basketball. These last two games, some in Phoenix and a LOT in Cleveland they resorted to that, as well as the main leaders looking to the refs to bail them out, not getting back on defense, not hustling for rebounds, and letting guys that started behind them to get ahead of them in the fast break, and that includes AD who played like a diva today.
He said his hip was jammed in the first quarter so he'll get the benefit of the doubt as to why he allowed Allen to beat him on the fast break every single time and didn't seem to care about contesting.
So we'll see if he brings it better in Toronto.
However the Lakers reverted to the selfish basketball that lost them games when things went bad with Ham. JJ seems to have drilled into the team to not fall into those habits, and for the first 3 games they avoided them for the most part. But in a game like tonight it was front and center.
So hopefully JJ does indeed drill that message harder now, and re-emphasize and re-emplement things as he said he would. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

He was definitely saying we allowed more than we had previously. Again, last year when stuff like that would happen the leaders would get in their own heads and start playing like they were mad at the ref or were looking for calls. AD definitely started playing for bailouts after that instead of just staying engaged.
But as a team we seemed to lack hustle tonight as a whole. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

I used to buy that. Until Wemby got runner up last year, and the Spurs suck. There is no rhyme or reason to these idiot voters. Just trendy voters. |

The voters are worse than casual fans. Many of them don't even watch the games, which is why Redick left AD out of his defensive teams. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

Needs to move up Dalton over Max in the rotation. I think its pretty clear now. Dalton surprisingly is passing the eye test when it comes to the defensive side of the court _________________ He's my GOAT |

It's pretty much
Is Christie's defense and horrible offense make more of a difference than Knecht's high offensive upside and average to below average defense?
No it isn't. Give Knecht Christie's minutes. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Forgot the Cavs hired Kenny Atkinson. That would explain everything, and they look like an entirely different team. He was my guy, but Redick deserves a fair shot, too. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

JJ is learning the personality of the team. He will make huge changes in players at trade deadline and off-season _________________ Iman Shumpert, believes LBJ's decision to constantly team up with other All-Stars eschewed the idea of superstars continually adding layers to their repertoire. |

Dodgers won World Series so Lakers will win Larry O'Brien trophy too. It's 2020 all over again. Believe!!

I think JJ got this right, the players as a unit seemed to slip back to playing how they did under Ham...they need to tighten that up.
Max needs to be told to D up and on O go camp out in the corner, I think we need to simplify his role and expecations to get him going. Dalton needs to be closer to 20min a game per night imo...he may get picked on, but he is a gamer and seems to find ways to contribute.
Hopefully Vando, Koloko, and Wood can help shore up the gaps, but FO needs to help us out a bit through trade...D lo and AR is just not a great pairing, and kind of a waste to bring either of the bench. I'd say bring in gabe, but he has just been average or slide AR 1 and bring in Max, but he's also just been average, need to upgrade one of the starting guard spots, would love a player like Smart next to AR. |

Redick is still an improvement over Ham, but it was always silly to expect Redick to turn a team with real roster issues into a contender.
Ham got blamed for things that were out of his control. I don't blame him for trying to find a better defensively balanced team when DLo and AR were struggling early last season AND were getting targeted on defense(although he went too far with it and should've returned to them sooner after Prince and Reddish played bad themselves).
It also looks like he was right to not give Christie any minutes. |
