This thread still existing while the Clippers have had 0 titles since, and are now falling apart like a classic Greek tragedy.
Meanwhile, Lakers starting off the season looking like contenders again just from a simple coaching change, and actually have a title since this thread.
Clippers will be what they always are: pathetic. Regardless of whatever rich owner they have. As far as anybody else is concerned, they are done as contenders both now and for a long time. The Thunder especially made sure of that. _________________ Knecht 4 Starter

Watched the Suns/Clippers game yesterday, and the Clippers have a good cast of supporting role players like they always do.
They defend well, which has kept them in games against good teams who are fully healthy.
But, none of this matters without having 2 stars at the top of the roster. Even if Kawhi returns, he needs another co-star. James Harden isn't on that level anymore.
And, the Clippers currently have a better record than the Lakers despite not having any stars. This has been a recurring theme with the Clippers and the Lakers over the years.
They've simply built better teams. They have 2-way players. They've consistently shut down opposing stars according to a graphic I saw while watching yesterday.
It's something worth mentioning while the Lakers still have their 2 stars, but still struggle because the Lakers have messed up the supporting cast THAT badly.

no way a team with AD/Bron is worse than a team full of role guys. _________________ Iman Shumpert, believes LBJ's decision to constantly team up with other All-Stars eschewed the idea of superstars continually adding layers to their repertoire.

They just went 1-4 on the road losing to several teams with just role players.

Incredibly the Clippers rank just 27th in NBA attendance, averaging 16,643 fans per night in an arena built to hold 18,000, though they did manage a sell-out on Saturday night. The Clippers — who improved to 6-4 with the win, while the Raptors fell to 2-8 — are an entertaining product too. They may not have the championship ceiling their trio of superstars was supposed to provide, but they’re a relatively deep team that competes hard. If Leonard can get healthy — he’s out indefinitely with inflammation in his surgically-repaired knee — they would be a tough out in the post-season. – via SportsNet
Build it and they will come?
Doesn't help that they limited public transit to the stadium and charge $70 for parking.

Also, Inglewood is a sketchy, unpleasant area. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

I wouldn't pay $70 to see the Clippers. I sure as heck wouldn't pay $70 to park to go pay and see the Clippers.

Never understood that decision.
Why would anybody in their right mind, especially a mind from a huge billionaire, build an Arena in one of the most well known BAD areas of Los Angeles? You have so many options in California to choose from, and you choose INGLEWOOD?
That would be like the UConn Huskies moving from Storrs to Waterbury, Connecticut. _________________ Knecht 4 Starter

On the flip side, the rich guy can start buying surrounding properties while cheap and turn them commercial rent piece by piece. Good luck the Inglewoodeans tho _________________ “The main goal for the Lakers is to win a championship. All I care about, all we care about, is to raise another banner in the rafters.“
I was listening to the Is This Good podcast (highly recommend) and they had Zach Harper on, who recounted when a high ranking Clippers exec called him and threatened him to stop making jokes about there not being very many Clippers fans. Wanted to talk to his boss. There was another incident where Chuck the Condor's actor gave a 100+ yr old war vet a wet willy, and in order to fire him the Clippers asked Zach to write a column denigrating the act (which he refused to do).
What's with the pathetic desire to shape the narrative? They held a whole ESPN special so they could pipe fake audio in through their arena and you couldn't even hear the commentators. IDing fans at the door.
It really feels like Ballmer's entire insecure personality has pervaded through this organization. He's probably going to run for president next.

They couldn't even draw a crowd for Paul George's return. The funny thing is that they may not pack their stadium until they finally play the Lakers. And that is a while from now.
