What about defense? Is that you? lol! How about 3pt shooting? Contract? I’m partial to our guys so go AR! But…???…

I apologize. Especially on this site, I honestly can’t tell without a /s at this point.

Donte is an over rated defender. I actually think Reaves is more capable. They are both career 37% 3 point shooters. Reaves is above 40 so far while Donte is below 30. Reaves can shoot the three on pull ups, off the dribble and spot ups. Donte is not that versatile. Reaves also gets more responsibility and attention than Donte. Finally Reaves plays against starters and is always guarding the best players. Donte makes 11. Reaves makes 13 if I'm not mistaken.

Yes I really feel like Reaves is better in every way. No joke

I respectfully disagree. Donte is your prototypical 3&D wing. He's a good shooter, and excellent defender...and, that's it. If we were able to play with a players stats rating, ala 2K, if you took the Donte's points in defense down from "excellent", to "average", and used those points to upgrade the overall offensive package, you get Austin.

Fair enough, I wouldn't consider Donte a top tier perimeter defender, but the opposite stance is reasonable enough where I won't think its cray.

19p 7r 5a on 67% TS (48% from 3), same usage (20%) as last season. I'll let the defensive metrics flow in over an entire season, but my eye test shows he's not a net negative, and the rebounds should help with that too.

He's really, really good.

I get that he's the best out of the 3 main Lakers' supporting cast. I get that he's on a good contract. I get that he's been the best playoff performer out of the 3.

But man, he just doesn't make enough of a difference to be a "must keep".

If he has significantly more trade value and can get the Lakers what they need, I'm happy to move him and keep DLo instead.

I just don't see why he's coveted so much by the Lakers and by fans.

I'm not saying I want to move him for just anything or that I prefer DLo to him.

But, I really want to see what the Lakers could get for him.

He is a sixth man masking as a 3rd option. He doesnt generate enough offense on a consistent basis. None of the supporting starters do.

So in order to make up the point short fall, 40 year old Lebron and banged up AD have to become supermen. Especially since this team's defense is atrocious. Then you add a non existent bench and this team is in dire shape.

Well I mean they are being paid to do that. Lebron wants a retirement party and max salary. He should be grateful the Lakers can hover around .500. Davis wants to keep his old buddy around. He should also accept the consequences. This really is not on Reaves, Russell or Rui. They more or less will earn their salaries to me.

If by some miracle you were able to trade any combination of those 3 players for someone better, we would then have an even bigger depth problem. The reality is we are due for a rebuild and they are dragging it out. It's part of the process after going all in on 2 players.

This. All day long.

It's great that LeBron can play at the level he is, against opponents who are young enough to be his children. But, we're looking at an aging LeBron...who plays no defense (nor is expected to)...with his offense increasingly relying more and more on jump shooting...being paid like a young LeBron. The math doesn't work, if you're truly looking to build a deep, talented, well rounded team.

Whether the Lakers go for an "all in" trade, or stay pat, the results are going to be nominally the same, until LeBron retires. The real question is, in what state will the Lakers be, when that happens. Which is why the FO is being really careful with potential trade moves, imo.

Cam starting and Reaves off the bench helps address some of the biggest issues. Doesn't completely solve them but Russell/Reaves is just never gonna work as a starting backcourt.

Im so (bleep) tired of these mini lineup changes that presumably fixes some issues.

Nothing is gettin fixed with this roster. Blow it up. Oh wow put Cam alongside DLO see how we go on a 10 win streak run. Team sucks and our guards suck.

Blow it up.

37.5% from three is not bad, but you know he's capable of shooting 40%, so those 1 for 5 or 1 for 6 games are frustrating. The good games bring the percentages up, but those anemic games are why he hasn't cracked 40%. He's got to get it together at the FT line too. He's not a 77%, should be 90%.

He's a legs guy. If he's tired for stretches during the season, his shot is off. He played all 82 last year, and he's trying to go every night this season too. We've had him guard the opponent's best perimeter player. With Reddish in the lineup getting that assignment, he can now focus on the offense. He's really important as a volume shooter for us.

So far so good. Unfair high expectations for this kid. I expect him to be at the same par as the Klays, Khris Middleton, Beals, Jrues of the world. His defense has been avg which is good, he’s not being abused. Need him to pump it up to 20+ppg

Rob, get this team some wing/big defenders!!!
