Former NBA star Delonte West arrested in Virginia

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - Former NBA player Delonte West was arrested in Fairfax County.

West of Maryland, was arrested in the 7200 block of Fairchild Drive in Groveton. Police say he was served a warrant for violation of conditions of release and charged with resisting arrest.

The 40-year-old is being held on bond.

The former point guard played for Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland before starring at St. Joseph's University. He had stints with the Boston Celtics, the Seattle SuperSonics, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Dallas Mavericks during his time in the NBA, and also played overseas.

Since his basketball career ended, West has been arrested multiple times. In 2020, he was filmed being assaulted in a D.C. area street. He later checked into a rehab center but was taken into custody for being drunk in public in Florida shortly after he was released from the facility. He was also arrested in 2022, for vehicle trespassing, fleeing from law enforcement, and being drunk in public.

Troubled ex-NBA guard Delonte West arrested again following trespassing claims

Add another arrest to Delonte West’s ledger.

The former and troubled NBA guard was accused of trespassing and arrested on Nov. 2 by the Fairfax County Police Department, according to TMZ.

The FCPD told TMZ that a person produced video evidence to corroborate their complaint that West would not evacuate a portion of Huntington, Va. where he is banned.

A day later after a warrant was issued, the 41-year-old West was arrested around 8:48 p.m. near the Huntington Metro.

He was held on a $1,000 bond and released on Nov. 3, according to TMZ.

West, who played eight seasons for four teams in the NBA, has a January court date after being hit with a misdemeanor charge.

The arrest is the latest in a long history of run-ins with the law for West, who made $16 million during an NBA career where he averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists per game.

In June, West had to be revived after a medical emergency following another Virginia arrest, where he was accused of violating the conditions of his release and resisting officers.

He was found unresponsive after fleeing police as they attempted to serve a warrant.

Narcan was administered for a suspected opioid overdose.

West, who has struggled with substance abuse, mental health issues and bipolar disorder, was charged with resisting arrest.

He was captured on video later that month stumbling around a parking lot in Arlington, Va.

Two years ago, the former St. Joseph’s University product was found wandering around outside a 7-Eleven and was arrested in 2021 for disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence.

West’s troubled times go back to 2016 when photos emerged of him panhandling in Washington D.C. and he was also seen in a hospital gown out in public in Houston.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban helped West get into rehab in September 2020, only to see him arrested again in October 2021 for allegedly banging on the doors of police headquarters in Boynton Beach, Fla., with an open can of beer and an open vodka bottle in hand

He last played in the NBA for the Mavericks during the 2011-12 season after stints with the Celtics, Cavaliers and now-defunct Seattle Supersonics.

West was drafted No. 24 overall by Boston in 2004.

Sad story. I'm sure LeBron didn't appreciate his teammate going after his own mother. Delonte has his own demons to fight, but I think LeBron blackballed him after the rumors/facts about his mom and Delonte.
