— has played 15 total minutes together
— has an offensive rating of 148.3
— has a defensive rating of 90.6
— has a net rating of 57.7
Of every single 5-man lineup to play at least double-digit minutes this season for the Lakers, this one has the HIGHEST net rating and offensive rating.
small sample size but DFS already making an immediate impact for Lakers

| Yup Rui is a luxury player off the bench. I said as soon as we got DFS, this has to be our starting lineup. Now its becoming obvious to everyone |

need more minutes to see, but just 15 minutes of this in 3 games? How will they knew if this is effective for long minutes if they will just field this lineup 5 minutes a game. JJ should experiment. |

The formula here are :
AR/Max/DFS/Lebron/AD should start, play heavy minutes and close the game.
Max/DFS/AD + 1 not so bad defender (AR/Bron) can get away with 1 bad defender who can score (Rui, DK) and will still get a positive net rating
Bron/Rui as bigs wil likely be a negative net rating.
DK/Rui combination will likely be a negative net rating. |

Rui is one of those luxuries you don't want to live without as we know Bron will miss games and in that case Rui can step in and give you quality minutes. Without him you have a big time hole since Vando is still hurt |

Rui is a 4/3
Ideally, Rui should be the backup 4 / smallball 5
But, until Vando is up to speed  Rui should be the backup 3 & 4 |

| with rui starting and lebron getting out at 6 mins mark of 1st and AD resting in the start of 2nd q. I dont think this lineup will have more minutes. what a bummer |

Still hate when we switch everything and AD ends up way outside the paint
We neither have rim protection
Nor we get good perimeter shot challenging
AD seems to end up on one side on the perimeter
While the paint is layup central (weak rim D)
Then ball gets swung to the other side and we’ve got not enough foot speed to recover and challenge
I like DFS but JJs schemes on defense are not for this team.
A better defensive coach and we’re 4-5 wins better IMO
That doesn’t make us a contender either way so it’s moot but I feel we’re underachieving |

That said, Rui definitely skates by without getting punished or benched as soon as JJ has been willing to bench others.
We have DFS now though, and the numbers are there, JJ pays attention to the numbers and advances statistics, regardless of whether or not they dictate his decisions, they used to, but don't anymore over players he favors. We'll see if he makes the proper changes.
