The New Orleans Pelicans have suspended Zion Williamson for one game for a violation of team policies.

Zion Williamson was late for Thursday's team flight to Philadelphia, leading the Pelicans to suspend him for tonight's game against the 76ers, sources said.
Perhaps one of the greatest wasted talent stories in league history. _________________ 14-5-3-12
Westbrook quietly putting up solid numbers while starting. If there is a system that works in his favor it's playing with a center that creates and stretches the floor and multiple shooters. They are still not playing to their usual standards though but I suspect that has to do with other factors than Westbrook. If have no idea what the advanced stats indicate though. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit)

He's got a -6.0 NRTG on/off. The team is good when he's on, but much better when he's off. The rest of his impact numbers are fine, if a little negative. Good for him for finding a non-disastrous situation to extend his career.
My guess is he gets hunted and exposed in the playoffs again.

If only we had another Kuzma, KCP and two first rd picks to give to Denver. Darn it!
Joking aside, just look at his shooting, has anything change? That's his problem in LA. Those percentages still look the same to me. Is he a good defender now too? He's a terrible gambling defender. He puts up decent numbers when a team allows Russ to be Russ, which basically means empty stats. Levon citing the -6 rating says it all. _________________ Westside Knecht' gang, Knecht' gang, bing-bing bang!
Zion doesn't want to be there, but the Pels treat him like Jokic when he's not even Julius Randle. I'm sure there are other incidents that led to the suspension, so they had no choice. This is what poverty franchises do. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

In a redraft of 2019, where should Zion actually have gone? Ja Morant, Barrett, and Garland were the next three picks. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

That'll show him! He's going to come back better than ever now after this suspension. If anything can change him, this is it. We're not talking about one quarter, or one half, or even 3 quarters... this is ONE WHOLE GAME. OMG! _________________ Westside Knecht' gang, Knecht' gang, bing-bing bang!

People like Zion make me appreciate Kobe so much more. It's hard to have goals, aspirations, once you've already made in the NBA. You can either go for greatness, or go for laziness. You already have all the money, all the food you can eat, all the toys you can buy, all the ladies you can have. It takes will power to be like Kobe man. It's easy to be Zion. _________________ Westside Knecht' gang, Knecht' gang, bing-bing bang!

The right choice in hindsight, at this stage? Undrafted.
Too talented. Someone will think they can change him. Low risk high reward. He'd be late first round, maybe second rd. _________________ Westside Knecht' gang, Knecht' gang, bing-bing bang!

As much as I want to continuously blame Zion, the rot starts at the top. David Griffin, Swin Cash, Gayle Benson and whoever else is running the show are keeping the franchise at poverty level. Everyone on the team and how they play is just an extension of the top level executives. They reinforce, coddle and encourage these habits, and Zion takes advantage of it. To a lesser extent, this also applies to BI, who was an extremely hard worker when he was here. I don't see that same fire in him after he got paid. I don't think Zion lasts 2 seasons on a franchise that holds him accountable. The Boston, New York or LA media would eat him alive (no pun intended). _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. It is 100% Zion.
Yeah Zion's mind is warped and cooked with pornstars and all you can eat buffets, but if they suspended him 7 games like the Heat did with Butler, then Zion responds because he won't be able to afford his gluttonous lifestyle much longer. Butler loses 2.4 million which is a steep amount. Pels are afraid to do that to Zion for whatever reason. No accountability on either side. That's a match made in hell. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.
