Picked over two players who could have offered some floor minutes immediately

Rob or whoever got tricked or they're stupid
I'll guarantee they never saw this kid play unorganized ball against adults
He acted like he had never played basketball against a grown man before

^^Why its so difficult to have been a Kobe fan before he came to the league. He did not give a bleep who you were.. you were another obstacle to destroy and JHS acts like victim of child abuse out there when competing against actual Men.

Did he come with preexisting back problems too?

The head of scouting is an owner

Jim Buss was fired, he’s an owner.

Jeanie needs Joey and Jesse’s votes.

Nobody bats 100. The lakers scouting department has more than proved their ability. Every talent evaluator in the history of the game has made big and small whiffs on occasion. They biffed last years’ 17. It happens. Over reacting to it is laughable.

No, but not every team trades away firsts as freely the Lakers have. They’ve made a total of 4 draft picks since 2019 and only two of them have been first round picks. There’s no pick next season. Drafting a guy whose complete lack of potential is so immediate and glaring that the Lakers best course of action was to convert him into an expiring not even two seasons later is catastrophically bad scouting. They needed to at least get an end of rotation player out of that pick and couldn’t even do that.

Still out with a "hamstring strain." Can he go the entire season?

It’s Cam Whitmore time in Houston. Smith, Eason and Thompson are all out for a bit.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a FRP handled this way before. He’s not in the G league, he’s not on the injury report, they declined his contract after only his rookie season. Yikes.

What did this kid do that’s so bad he’s basically done after one injury riddled season?

There has to be a story here.

We literally traded away Dlo, Gabe is hurt, and they would rather play Milton at point than give a chance to the #17 pick from a year ago

He's been out with a hamstring injury.

Really sucks to see Cam Whitmore contributing last night.

JHS nowhere to be seen and Knecht ZERO…

JHS is a full-on miss and I never understood the pick since I didn't see a single thing in him that stood out,
Knecht is different, it's too early to make a call on him, I never fell for the initial fan hype as I knew that NBA defenses hadn't had a chance to adjust to him. He can still grow to be a useful player, we shall find out next year.

I think if healthy we should give him playtime. Dont think he's been giving all that much of a chance. This team wont really do much of anything so might a well take a chance in JHS to see what he truly has.

They've been listing him on the injury report is having a hamstring injury for seemingly a couple of months now so either it's a bad injury or I really don't know what's going on there. I've been joking in the injury thread that he's in a witness protection program.

I don’t think his body is built for the sport. Having all these injury issues when you barely play to begin with and you’re not exactly an explosive athlete isnt very promising.

Man, if only this dude can become a great point guard. His name is ready for a great nickname... Jalen the Chef Schifino cooking up dimes. I know there is a Chef Curry. LOL! But it flows better with Schifino.

Maybe Rob signed him so he could save money on his health insurance?

That team that was said “won’t do much of anything” has been flirting with being 4th in a stacked West. Upgrading to fill the holes seems like a more productive plan than giving G-League players minutes.

Well…to put that in context…it seems like a better plan if the goal is to compete better. Based on reactions/actions, I question if the front office…or some fans for that matter…actually want that as a goal for this team.

Seems his hamstring injury was very severe. Sucks for him most definitely as this would be the time to be continuing development in the G-League. he was killing it last year and then had to get the back surgery, and couldn't get going this year as of yet because of a freak hamstring accident that's kept him out for months. Always been one of the hardest workers in the gym, so you gotta feel for the kid.

is "hamstring tightness" a "severe" or "freak" injury? Sounds more like a body that just can't abide typical nba wear-and-tear, or even something far below it since he's only played 14 minutes this year.

Random fact i just found out: Max Christie is only 150 days older than JHS. JHS was born in June and yet somehow in a lower grade than Christie (born in February). Isn't the cutoff September 1st usually? Why was he in a lower grade?

Did JHS maybe benefit from always having a more mature body than his opponent?
