People like Zion make me appreciate Kobe so much more. It's hard to have goals, aspirations, once you've already made in the NBA. You can either go for greatness, or go for laziness. You already have all the money, all the food you can eat, all the toys you can buy, all the ladies you can have. It takes will power to be like Kobe man. It's easy to be Zion.
As much as I want to continuously blame Zion, the rot starts at the top. David Griffin, Swin Cash, Gayle Benson and whoever else is running the show are keeping the franchise at poverty level. Everyone on the team and how they play is just an extension of the top level executives. They reinforce, coddle and encourage these habits, and Zion takes advantage of it. To a lesser extent, this also applies to BI, who was an extremely hard worker when he was here. I don't see that same fire in him after he got paid. I don't think Zion lasts 2 seasons on a franchise that holds him accountable. The Boston, New York or LA media would eat him alive (no pun intended).
It is 100% Zion.
Yeah Zion's mind is warped and cooked with pornstars and all you can eat buffets, but if they suspended him 7 games like the Heat did with Butler, then Zion responds because he won't be able to afford his gluttonous lifestyle much longer. Butler loses 2.4 million which is a steep amount. Pels are afraid to do that to Zion for whatever reason. No accountability on either side. That's a match made in hell.
If he would respond after a suspension then he worse than imaginable
As we've seen over the years with high profile athletes, money is an excellent motivator. Remember Zion's rookie season? He was insane. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

Without Fox too and Monk starting at PG! Trade Fox to the Lakers since they’re better off with Rui lol! (Sarcasm, shame I gotta say it but been here before 🤣). _________________ When it’s a reasonable possibility, I expect the Lakers to go after a ship like it can’t be denied. I haven’t seen a respectable effort by the Front Office for the last two off seasons nor the last trade deadline. What is going on?
Don’t look now but the Kings are like 3 games back from the Lakers, after we had a comfortable lead over them just last week, can’t believe a AD and LeBron lead team is having such a hard time finding the right winning formula

Ah so the Kings being 3 games back from the Lakers means the Lakers lack a winning formula.
But the Lakers being 3 games back from being the 3rd seed means nothing

TBH Ant is a bigger problem than Randle
I knew they were cooked when Kerr idiotically appointed him as the chosen one on that FIBA squad. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

It's funny how the Lakers' main 3 players taken from the Lakers' 2010s rebuilding project are all sort of similar. They're all high volume guys who aren't good enough to demand that on a contending team.
DLo, Randle, and BI have raised the ceiling on mid-teams, but are bad at fitting onto a good team with established star(s).
I really don't know what you can do with those type of players if you truly want to contend.
Westbrook quietly putting up solid numbers while starting. If there is a system that works in his favor it's playing with a center that creates and stretches the floor and multiple shooters. They are still not playing to their usual standards though but I suspect that has to do with other factors than Westbrook. If have no idea what the advanced stats indicate though.
By the advanced numbers he's putting up value like he provided in the first season with the Clippers (~21 games). His on-court production is so much higher with LAC and Denver than it was with LAL, and that's just in absolute terms. Relative to his contract, it's pretty nuts.
I've tried using tracking data to approximate Russ' role across the three teams, but his usage and time per possession are always higher with the Lakers. That he's so much more productive with these other teams is a bit of a conundrum unless it's as simple as reducing his mistakes through limiting minutes (pulling him as soon as bad Russ surfaces) and playing alongside much higher value role players that maximize his strengths, reduce his weaknesses, etc. Playing with one of the greatest players ever, AT HIS PEAK, also helps a ton. But even in Jokic's absence, Russ has been great with Denver after that nasty stretch early in the season.

Dont think you can put that on BI. He's possibly playing on the most dysfunctional franchise in the west. They have no idea what they want. They're not tanking. The generational talent in Zion refusing to take things serious with the pelicans. Herb injured again. He hasn't played on a competent team yet.
BI out of those three is the best player. I hope we get him back because he'd be a great 3rd option.

How is Lonzo Ball not considered one of the "main" players chosen from the rebuilding project....seems like cherry-picking to me.

The plan was to add two max FA players to them young pups while all were on rookie scale. I would have liked to have seen:

What is going on with the nugs? Like yes the Mavericks are playing well right now but the nugs don't even look like they've gotten off the plane yet oh wait there's some hustle lol but anyway yeah what is really going on?
Jamal Murray is just not a star anymore, although he does still have big playoff moments. Give Jokic what Tim Duncan had, or some version, and it's lights out for years.
Yeah we def gave dallas the confidence. They looked like hot garbage previous to mmeeting us. Crazy what winning a game does to peoples confidence. Shame it had to be us giving them that push but we're mid so it's expected.
Doug Christie has the Kings playing with a lot of confidence and they have Huerter/DeRozan/Lyles/Murray to use to upgrade there roster even more
Yep, if they keep winning games, I can see Kuzma or even Cam Johnson possibly heading there by trade deadline. It seems Memphis are leading in the Cam Johnson sweepstakes though.
