Oh man, I never gave it much thought and always assumed I was drinking plenty. I have a 40 oz tumbler I keep around and usually drink maybe 1.5 to two refills. I thought I was getting plenty but clearly I'm not even close.
Like MookieBetts50...does coffee count? It's a diuretic so I assume no?
Also, I always thought it was 8 cups a day? _________________ KOBE

Yes, I start the day by chugging two whole glasses of water. I go to the bathroom almost every hour. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
My doctor told me I should drink between 24 and 36 oz a day. In the winter months, I'm at the low end of that or maybe a bit less; in the summer months, more towards the high end. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"
I dunno, but that's about like drinking water...though I don't know if really baaad water counts. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"
Caffeine is a diuretic, but only a mild one and coffee is almost entirely water. All things considered, you gain considerable hydration from coffee.
Some of the recommendations for how much water to drink have also been apocryphal. One of the people who first publicized it and started the trend literally did his math wrong.
My understanding is that it should also take into account all the water content in everything you consume, including food. So I'm not sure that means you should essentially make sure to consume a gallon jug daily. Caffeine is tricky...some people are more sensitive to it than others. I could drink a standard cup and usually pee out more than I consume within an hour. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit)
I work with kids. Drinking "enough" water is much easier if we consider what else we consume other than water. Water rich foods, whether fruits, vegetables, etc., also provide water.
Balance all of those factors and it won't be as much concern as to whether you chugged a bottle of water, or just ate a nice salad. Typically, the color of our urine is a good way to gauge the need for more water.

Reminds me of the Monty Python joke:
Your American beer is like making love in a canoe . . . it's (bleep)-ing close to water. _________________ "You know it seems the more we talk about it, it only makes it worse to live without it."
I can say I had an instant response to this, a dad response I guess it is called today (a dad with a dark sense anyway), but I couldn't bring myself to post it. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

I've read this for days trying to decipher it. It's driving me nuts. Gotta ask. What was the dad response? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

8 cups is the old value
cuzz your piss must be a nice golden bronze
Started drinking a total of 120oz or so between mostly water and some coffee..
I've never peed this much in my life. Have to wake up every few hours at night to take a piss. _________________ KOBE
I drink a 1 gallon jug of distilled water room temp.
Thats the fastest way I can drink my water.
But I also make my preworkout drink in the morning with it, as well as my post workout drink.
Then sip out of the jug the rest of the day. And as soon as I'm done I start sipping on Buffalo Trace. Which could be at 5pm or 9pm.... _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
