NFL football is one of those sports that there really is no guarantees next year. You never know when and if this opportunity comes up again. They had the moment in their grasp and let it go. Look at the Lions, last year they were this close to making the Super Bowl and this year an upstart Commanders team beat them in their first game in the playoffs. Not only that but they made them look bad in the process. And with a Matthew Stafford that might call it a day any year now we don't know how soon they can get another opportunity. |

Yeah if he happens to retire, the Rams are in a tough spot because they would incur a $49MM dead cap hit. |

All I know is, this fan, though of course disappointed, really came to like this team and was pleasantly surprised at how well the defense played towards the end of the season. They became a sacking machine but a lot of those sacks came because the secondary had such good coverage. Either they played two mediocre quarterbacks or they just made them look mediocre. The defense was great for 58 plays yesterday, great, but those other 3 plays counted as well.
There are 32 teams working their asses off, working long hard hours, with everyone doing all they can to win the Super Bowl (or maybe, really about 20 or so since some are just hopeless). 31 are going to be disappointed, and now, the Rams are one of them.
This SoCal team, playing in East coast, sub freezing, blustery, snowy, icy conditions, was a play or so away from being in the final four. They didn't quit. The Eagles were the better team during the regular season, with a solid offense and the number one defense in both yards and points yielded, and as it turned out, the better team yesterday--but just barely. Whoever lost was going to be a very good team. The Lions also lost. So did the Ravens. That's how it is at this level. I can't say we all should be proud, but I know I am. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

This makes sense. What I saw of him during those last couple of games was not prime Stafford and sure indicated he was far less than 100%. Dude's a stud for sure. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

So, there is some talk that Josh might pull a Stafford and look to go to another team to get his ring. I hear he is 28. Timing, among all the issues here, would be important, but I see a lot of Stafford in Josh (or is it a lot of Josh in Stafford?), and I really like Stafford and I'm happy with Stafford, but looking to replace him with Josh should be in the Rams thinking. Whadaya think, Les? _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

Allan is a NoCal guy, he's a lifelong Giants fan, he hates the Dodgers. i can see him push his way to the 49ers if they don't sign Purdy to a huge extension. |

I guess we had better be rooting for Purdy resigning. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

OWNERSHIP
It matters A LOT!
While no team in any sport can "buy" a championship, with proper dedication (and a fat wallet) can certainly put the pieces in place to do so!
Look at what the Dodgers are doing, look at what the 80's Lakers did, as well as the Kobe-era Lakers.
Heck even the Rams did it, they opened their wallets brought in great talent and won the Championship a couple of years ago.
Then what happened was that the Ownership decided they needed to make (more) Money OVER Winning and jettisoned key players to the point where we are today!
If the Coach could talk honestly, I'm sure he would loved to have top-notch seasoned Vets, over Rookies and Cast-offs, but he was hired to Coach whatever players OWNERSHIP brings in. And by the time these Rookies get enough experience and the Team is about to break through, they will be traded or let go, cause they want too much money...! |

Business first for the cutthroat NFL and the Rams. Too bad we can't just deal Cupp for another star ala the NBA. Probably gonna be a meh return of distant middle round picks. |

Doubt we have the draft capital Cleveland would demand. |

I mean, we've traded FRP in the past, but I don't think it would be the right move at this time. We have a really impressive young DL, and I think it would be smart to continue to augment the team with highly-rated young talent, whether it's on the offensive or defensive side. Other than at QB, our team is pretty young, which I view as a good thing. (And moving off Kupp is making us younger, because I'm confident we're going to feature Whittington next season.) Keep the picks, in case you want to make a bold move in the near future for a QB. |

Me neither but it's also clear Coop is no longer the WR1 and I believe Robinson can easily step in as WR2. I thought we had one of the best receiving corps in the league but we also have other holes to fill.
I think we really need to find a replacement for Higbee as well. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Arroyo is my pick but he may go to the Chiefs at the end of the 1st since Kelce is aging. I'm not sure if he can run a 4.5, but once he gets going, Arroyo can move.
