Yeah cold outing for Bronny.

He has improved over the season, he's a G League talent now at least. Capable of some short stints in the NBA that look decent, but not consistently. We'll see more of him come October. And maybe sooner, during a blowout or two over the next 16 Laker wins!

I'm more interested to see what he looks like in the summer league. Expecting something like what Max did his second year

Just shows how big the gap still is between the g-league and NBA. You could average 40 and still be the worst player in the NBA by a mile. That's why scouts tend to look for niche defensive talent like Caruso or GPII as opposed to the best scorers. That being said, Bronny should still be parked in the g-league for quite some time and work with a skills/defensive coach until he physically matures. At this current point in time, it's not an unpopular position to say that there are more deserving players out there who belong on the Lakers roster. Lebron should not be the reason why he's playing 38 minutes.

I like this kid... Self awareness. He knows what he needs to do. He does not act like something he is not.

Lakers are betting on his DNA and pedigree, which isn't a bad position to take with the #55 pick. Scotty Pippen Jr., who is smaller and less athletic than Bronny, stunk it up as a rookie, but put it together last year and is a legit rotation player now.

Exactly, Bronny is currently developing imo to become an end of the rotation player as of now ala Goodwin not be a starting pg with a bunch of end of the bench guys who have hardly ever played together. He looked significantly better in his only other game he played 30 minutes against the Bucks. He actually had the best game out of everyone we played that game against their starters as well. So, basically as a Rookie he had two games the entire Season where he played 30+ minutes.. One game he played really well and the other he looked much more rough but still had 6 assists and 4 steals so at least even in that one he found another way to contribute and didn't just throw up donuts across the board when the shot wasn't falling.

He made very clear improvements as the Season progressed as well.. Not sure what else you could realistically expect from a #55 pick? It would have been nice to see both him and DK dominate in the final game I guess but it means next to nothing in the grand scheme of his development. I could easily name 3-4 other players that are more worthless on our roster than an absolutely dirt cheap 20 Year old prospect with solid 2 way potential.

I could still see Bronny matching and even very possibly surpassing both Pippen Jr. and GPII's level within another Year or two. Caruso and GPII were also much older than Bronny when they got their first chance in the NBA, Caruso 23 and GPII being 24. On top of that Caruso didn't really become an actual consistent impact player until about 25 while GPII was 29 (Pippen is 24 btw this Season when he finally got consistent rotation minutes). So, using the above three examples it looks like Bronny is actually doing pretty damn well in his development....

No reason be all out hyperbolic in either direction. He's not the worst NBA player but also def. not ready to be a rotation player yet either.

Expectations a certainly heavy and more so when you just don’t have that
next gear.

G-leaguer, there’s nothing wrong with that.

The only thing I’ll say about Max is his game looked NBa level in college. He had a good level and impact in college. Bronny, especially his release on his shots never look close to Max.

Defensively is where I feel they can probably be same development but even there Max has more size to work with .

I didn't watch Max in college but it's pointless comparing Bronny to him giving the heart issues. For me it wasn't really until the '23 summer league I got a sense of Max's game and I knew he'd be a real player then. I'd give the same grace to Bronny there.
With that said, whenever I watch Bronny on defense I'm underwhelmed. He just looks like another guy on defense. I don't claim to be an expert, it's just my impression having watched him

Max's issue was how skinny/light he was, but when he got on the floor one could see his length and defensive positioning were well beyond his age. Of course he made plenty of rookie mistakes and was thrown around like a rag doll by NBA bodies, but it seemed likely that he would develop into at least an adequate defensive NBA player.
As usual folks focused on his offense, and while he was decent athletically, and had the makings of an outside shot, everything else was mediocre or absent, particularly ball-handling and playmaking. So folks focusing on that end downplayed his potential as a 3&D. Now (Unlike THT) Max was able to maximize his positives while doing just enough to minimize his weaknesses to to play rotation minutes and be a legit role 3&D role player.
