Now 2 years in, what a disappointing signing. He was the Schroder replacement who was tracking to potential Dlo replacement at the pg along with AR, to essentially not being playable(sat the entire second half)
Definitely see him as an offseason expiring contract to try and trade.

Go look back on how Miami used him, and compare it to how is being used here.
He is being asked just to be a 3&D guy with Luka/Lebron/AR... Far from how we used Schroder and DLO here.
The problem with Vincent is basically just that he's not good enough to ever justify the amount of usage he needs to be in rhythm to hits shots. I like him on defense but he gives up so much size you're better off playing a bigger guard if you're going to get questionable value on offense.
I would try to steal NAW away from Minny (who also was very bad this series, but he just has so much more size) and use Vincent as an expiring.

He has a role and he plays that fine, it's just that he cannot cover for what MaxC was providing for this team.
100% we need to trade this guy. $11M expiring.
I like Gabe a lot, but around Luka I want size and athleticism. If I'm going to have a 3&D player next to Luka, let him be a Christie, NAW type.

Another absolutely brain dead move by Pelinka. He saw Gabe have a couple of good games in one playoff and then overpaid him, despite his larger body of work. And this clown will be running the bball organization forever. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

Gabe actually contributed well when the ball moved and he got more than 2 to 3 shots in a game. It’s not like Gabe had horribly inefficient shooting games with chucker attempts, it more like the offensive game plan was so iso ball between LBJ/Luka/AD or AR that he wasn’t used.
The problem with Gabe is that $11m, his role could easily be filled by a vet min type. When the Lakers play more team oriented basketball tho by involving multiple players in the offense, Gabe had more than a few productive outings. It could be beneficial to move him if his role is replaced but it wouldn’t upgrade the team just to dump him since he’s the only guard capable of playing POA defense, unless you count Goodwin which we just can’t do that yet. _________________ When reasonably possible, I expect the Lakers to go after a ship like it can’t be denied. I haven’t seen a completely committed effort by the GM for the last 2 off seasons nor the last 2 trade deadlines. What is going on?

Yep. He’s a replacement level player. Move him for a serviceable big or a bigger defensive guard that can switch.

Agreed, but don’t forget this part:
“…it wouldn’t upgrade the team just to dump him since he’s the only guard capable of playing POA defense…”
On ball and backcourt defense has to be replaced, it can’t just be dumped, we saw the negative affect of dumping MaxChristie…and Schroeder the 1st time…without replacing it. That said, I never liked the Gabe addition, the larger sample size of his lack of effectiveness for previous regular seasons was just too definitive to be overlooked, even with the aberrant Miami post season.
Sure, Gabe could have been added as insurance for a cheaper price, but it looked like a mistake to count on him as a major contributor…6th or 7th man…at the time when he was signed and continually does so even now. Still, I also can’t ignore that when he is used…included in the offense that is…he has produced, it might not be part of the game plan tho to include him so at his price it’s seems like it’s not worth it. Gotta get a backcourt defender not named Goodwin tho! _________________ When reasonably possible, I expect the Lakers to go after a ship like it can’t be denied.
