After Shaq and Kobe teams were dominating and their was no competition, the NBA changed it's rule to help other teams can guard the Lakers. Imagine if only 1 guy could only be on Kobe in the finals seconds the inbounds pass with the court spread?

Totally need to add the 3 pointer against Ruben Patterson and the Trailblazers last game of the season in 04? just to put the game into OT.

I still think that's the best shot he hit. HOW did he get that thing off?

Those 2 shots were both miracle shots. The first shot against Patterson you see him stepping into Bryant as he's going into the shot.

Second shot was a quick release with extra arc just to get it over Ratliff.

That twisting-turning body motion shot was incredible and so was the high arching fall down shot. Amazing.

Updated...

Thanks to fellow LG member "Nobody" for spotting the 05-09-99 game against the Kings; Kobe hit the game-winning FT's.

Btw, I've seen my list copied everywhere on other boards claiming this list to be theirs.

That's messed up.

Either don't say anything, or give credit to where it's due.

Thanks for the credit and again a thank you for compiling the list.

Btw, I've also seen your list copied numerous times - a guy on some forum actually had the audacity to write "it took a long time but now it's finally here blahblah" in the opening post. Shameless.

Here's to hoping you get to add many more to the list.

And how many times did Kobe do that twice in one game? Portland and Phoenix playoffs (1 shot to tie, 2nd shot to win).

I'd like to see how many game-tying shots (sending the game to OT) he had also (including the 2 above-mentioned).

Even though it wasn't a game winning shot per se, his shot over Richard Hamilton in Game 2 of the 2004 Finals comes to mind.

Great Performance by Kobe.

What impresses me is that there is one game to New York, Kobe hit a 3-point to tie the game and send Lakes to OT.

But in the OT, kobe pass the ball to Luke, but luke even can't throw that ball out, then game is over....

That period sucks....

I think of it as an "And-1" situation. Bryant made the field-goal, Miller made the FT (which upgraded that shot to a GW). No time had expired off the game-clock.

I'm torn with that. Belive me, this is NOT the first time someone's mentioned that game. I actually kind of want to leave it off too... but if you watch the telecast of that actual NBA Finals game, Bob Costas (the NBC broadcaster of that game) towards the end of the broadcast, called Kobe's last basket the "eventual game-winning" basket.

Hence I just placed an * asterisk on that game along with 2 others with the words "eventual game-winner".

I was actually going to leave it off from my 2005 list back then but talking with a couple more members made me leave it in, since there really is no one real definition of a game-winning shot.

If a definition of game-winning shot means that it's the last basket that decided the outcome of a win, then you can include Kobe's Game 4 NBA Finals putback coz without that shot, the Lakers don't win the game, instead the game goes to overtime.

If game-winning shot means it needs to be the LAST made basket that wins the game, then the 2006 Clippers game and the 2004 Rockets game don't count either because although Kobe made the shot that gave the Lakers (who were down 1) the eventual win in both games, he didn't make the last baskets (Fisher was intentionally fouled and shot FT's with 8 seconds left in the Rockets game, and Smush picked up the loose ball and shot it with 3 seconds left in the Clippers game).

Game-winners may also mean that it doesn't necessarily mean it has to be the LAST basket, but just that it has to be the basket that puts a team up for a win. Example, there was a game where the Lakers were up 8 points with Horry making the last Lakers shot with 2:00 or so remaining. The Lakers then went cold going 0-4 and the opponents made a run hitting 3 baskets but fell short by 2 points, hence the Lakers barely won by only 2 points. Would Horry's shot then be considered the game-winner even though it wasn't the LAST shot made?

So...

Note: As of Jan. 2010, of the 30 games on the list, 27 are what I consider TRUE game-winners, meaning Kobe's shot was the LAST basket made that wins the game.
