Ebanks and Caracter definitely stood out and they can be had for cheap on our roster. Frank Robinson looked solid early on. Green definitely sucked for a 5 yr nba player.
Ebanks, Caracter, Robinson and I kinda like Courtney Sims as well...an extra big body! |

I don't know what player you were watching, but it wasn't Jaaber. _________________ I Recommend VLC Player: http://www.videolan.org/ |

Lol Jerebko was a starter last yr and daye was a high draft pick |
I've never heard of Daye, but I'll give you that one. I still consider Jerebko a no name. |
Then I guess you don't remember Jerebko lighting us up for 15 points last December either. _________________ We are stardust

His greatest sin was not protecting those rebounds; not quite the same as having band hands. _________________ We are stardust

Not going to pronounce them future hall-of-famers yet, but Ebanks and Caracter looked like they're at least good enough to be benchwarmers at the NBA level, so I'd say they're making the team. Liked Caracter's shooting touch, and Ebanks' hustle. I was surprised how good Ebanks looked coming off screens and stroking the short jumper. |

He looked pretty bad on defense (9 fouls, although he had a couple of blocks), but he was spectacular at times on the offensive side. He has a very smooth low-post game and a nice 15-foot jumper. The Kwame comparison could not be further from the truth. |

So I guess you judge Caracter on one play where he fumbled his first post entry pass... |

And Jerebko made NBA All-Rookie 2nd team last year.
Ebanks matched a #15 overall pick and Caracter outplayed a #7 overall pick. That's a good start for the #43 pick and the #58 pick. |

I was impressed with Ebanks. The Ariza description is pretty spot on, as he can finish well, plays good defense and looks like him (even was wearing number 3, which was Ariza's old number, too.)
I was surprised by Ebanks' height as he looked a bit taller than Ariza, probably more like 6' 9". His taller height made him seem a tiny bit slower than Ariza, or lacked Ariza's explosiveness and quickness, but still very quick and athletic for his height. He finished well, making some layups and ran the fast break so he'll be good in the transition game.
I liked his energy, and he showed nice hustle when shot a jumper that bricked and was rebounded by a guard the Piston team, and he chased the guard down and stole the ball back.
I liked the fact that most of his points came within the flow of the game and he didn't try to force things. The announcers on NBA TV said his points came effortlessly, and I agree. His mid-range jumper seems decent (better than Ariza coming out of UCLA), but does need to work on the long-range shots. He didn't seem selfish and looked to pass the ball, and knew how to move without the ball, using a screen to get a jumper off.
Defensively he isn't flashy like Ariza, who would play the passing lanes for steals, but Ebanks rather plays more solid man-to-man defense, relying on proper footwork and angles to defend his man which I think is more fundamentally sound than what Ariza did. He seems a bit stronger than Ariza too. I liked the fact that he would box out his man on rebounds.
He is like a less flashy (doesn't dunk as nice, defensive is more fundamental and constant rather than going for steals in passing lanes), but more versatile (and slightly taller) Ariza on both the defensive and offensive end is what I'd characterize Ebanks. Nice pickup. If Ebanks jumper gets more range and gets more consistant, I'd say he could be just as good as Ariza, I maybe might prefer him for his taller height and his style of defense. |

Yeah that was the weird thing. I knew about those stats regarding his height. But Ebanks just "seemed" bigger and little thicker. Even the NBA TV announcers remarked on that too, that he looked taller than listed. Dunno, maybe it could have the Summer League uniforms. |

Just his perimeter game in general. Anything jumpshot related is very sketchy. He's like a transition and garbage play guy around the basket, which is unfortunately a big handicap in the NBA. He needs to work on that a lot, and keep trying to drive the ball the basket. |
Actually, he has a pretty good mid-range game, which will serve him and us well. It's from distance that he struggles. |
