I'm so happy with getting Russell.

76ers are a big loser... Noel, Embiid, Okafor... Someone needs to remind them there's 4 other positions on a basketball team |

I'm only a fan with no idea of what the FO has in mind but I've lost all faith in our leadership.
They shored up where we had the most depth. How Russell plays with Kobe will be key.
I've never given Kobe any credit for being a player with the ability to teach. I hope he doesn't impede Russell's progress. |
It's one season, and it's not like Kobe is around these guys a lot. |
If I could entreat the BB Gods for one wish, I'd ask for Russell to be another Kobe. He has no Shaq.
I had high hopes for a good coming season. Those hopes have been dashed.
I LINK Mitch, Jim and Jeannie have a card up their sleeves no one knows about. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

You don't realize it but you're basing that on an ESPN analytics model that had Smart 1st and Vonleh 2nd in last years draft. |

Kudos to Mitch K and the rest of the FO... including my favorite whipping boy Jim Buss. Gotta give credit when credit is due!
Lakers took the 2nd best player in the entire draft and did so going against all the noise, hype, expectations, etc by those who thought post play is enough to make up for a myriad of other issues.
D'Angelo will make the Lakers offense rock & roll. He put up numbers on a garbage team... wait until he is surrounded by talent... Lakers win BIG TIME! _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season. |

Booker was my favorite backcourt player after Russell. I hate that the Suns got him in division. _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? If you know PM me please

Alright so there's the lottery. I get it now it's only the top 15 that's the lottery. That was pretty darn boring, hence I don't generally pay attention to this part of things. Hopefully we will go back to winning and I won't have to watch a draft again for a long time LOL. #GoLakers |

Maybe "credit" was to harsh. I've never "thought" Kobe could be a good teacher. IMO he's to much of a perfectionists and lacks patience.
This may be a oxymoron, I'll be sad to see him go but glad to see him go. All things come to a end, Kobe's reached that time.
He's done as much or more than expected but I want to see the TEAM progress.
Kobe's only human and as such he's done all humanly possible for this team. Next season I hope he takes his farewell tour, puts the Nike's in the locker for the last time and ride triumphantly off into the sunset.
I don't want to see him go out like Jordan. He's a GOAT, can't take that from him. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

The bust rate is based on Russell's expectation being so off the charts. He's a virtual lock to become the premier guard in the western conference within 3 years, and the model has to acknowledge that he has at least a chance to only perform at an all star level. Hence the 41% chance he doesn't become 1st team all NBA vs. the 59% chance he does. The high bust rate correlates inversely to his ABSURD potential.
The highest likelihood bust player: Michael Jordan; the highest likely bust in 2007: Kevin Durant. |

Hmmm.. wonder who the Lakers will choose. I'm still bummed about Okafor.. but I gotta admit D'Angelo Russell is going to be fun to watch. |

I agree.
Had a chance to grab oak, and they blew it for a point guard. A point guard.
A point guard. A point guard over a sure thing at center. A point guard. We're talking about a point guard over a center. Cmon man. A point guard.
Guards grow on trees an can be easily neutralized. There are plenty of swing men defenders that can neutalize the best guard's abilities (curry getting broken in by delladova).
Good Big men are harder to come by. Front office dropped the ball with this pick. We already had clarkson. He might not be as good as Russell in a few years, but having a great center would have supplemented whatever clarkson's shortcomings were. I give up.
I jumped for joy at the thought of getting okafor upon learning our obtainment of the second pick. Now I'm glued to my bed in disappointment. |
