He'll never be great, but he's not as bad as some people make him out to be. The fact that he'll never be great defensively isn't a big issue at all.
He took a pretty big leap this season.
I think it’s just maturity and knowing how to play angles to make up for his relatively low to NBA standard athleticism.
How athletic is D’Angelo compared to Harden, Nash, Ginobili, and Curry? Lack of athleticism didn’t seem to limit their games in the same way.
They are all more atheltic than DLo. Curry has good quickness and only below average in terms of bounce. Harden has a bigger body than DLo and is quicker, way more bounce than DLo. Those guys have similar athelticism to AR than DLo. Nash was quick.
Oh, so those guys are unathletic for STARS but still average or above average overall, and D’Angelo is unathletic for an NBA PLAYER? Is he just somewhat below average or near the bottom of the league?
Yup. It's the main reason he isn't regarded more highly.. He has all the skill in the world-- can shoot the three ball, create for others, shoot the midrange, crafty around the rim-- but his lack of athleticism makes it hard for him to get separation against athletic defenders in the half court. That's why he struggled tonight against Ant and in the playoffs last season.
Playing with Lebron and AD should help him in that regard. Playing off the ball more and benefitting from the looks they create should make him much better in the playoffs this time around.
That was such a dis to the wolves. It’s clear that the divorce there was not very clean. I’m glad we got him. He didn’t have a great shooting night. I feel like he got tapped on like 3-4 shots but he still found other ways to contribute. Hope we lock him up. His charisma is custom made for the LA Lakers.

Wolves have been dissing him though the media even this week. He knows that appreciation video didn't mean anything. And DLo tonight didn't make any splashy plays and got 10 assists taking care of the ball extremely well after first 5 minutes or so.

I will say though, I watched the Wolves broadcast, at least for the 4Q, and they were very professional. I enjoyed it.
Yea, I watched the same broadcast. Got the feeling that they appreciate DLo and Vando. And when Malik hit those 3s in first half, they were like you don't give space to a sniper no matter whether he's in a slump. _________________ Showtime 2.0
Definitely not a chucker like the Wolves fans and NBA experts say. He cares about his teammates and the fans and is the perfect complement to AD Bron Vandy Rui and Reaves. Love that he’s back. Good job Rob! _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant
I really like how he's a legit playmaking/scoring combination type of guard.
Not the sort of guard that just puts up monster assist nights and says look at me how unselfish I am, how hard I play. He's the sort of player who fits in well as a 3rd guy because he can do many things. Threat to score as a shooter, threat as a drive and dish guy, threat as a drive and score in middle, solid post entry passer. Been seeing this since he was in year 2 with the Lakers.
The fact that he's able to adjust from being more assertive and sometimes less as a scorer is what's really good about his game for us. The first half he didn't shoot the ball well, but then in the 2nd half he came on strong as a playmaker. But even then, he's a threat as a 3 point shooter. So that's why the fit is so good with AD/Lebron.
