Where's this idea that DLo had "one bad game" coming from?

He had 14 on 6-14 and 2-10 from 3 in game 1. He had 13 on 6-20 and 1-9 from 3 in game 5.

He was not good for 3 of the 5 games, which is an improvement over not looking like an NBA player in the series last year against DEN.

D'lo can do no wrong in some people's eyes. All his weaknesses are actually strengths.

Same could be true the other way. He can do no right in some people’s eyes. All his strengths are actually weaknesses.

Guys I can’t wait till we get rid of Dlo and immediately win a championship! It’s going to be the best. No Dlo = multiple rings!!! Don’t need to even play out the season. Just hand over them rings immediately after the trade and/or contract is finished!!!

I can acknowledge what he's actually good at and have done so numerous times. Others somehow delude themselves into thinking he's a leader, good defender, playoff performer and a guy you can win a championship with. He will always come up short in the playoffs because he has fatal flaws. Unathletic - doesn't need to be double teamed so a smaller player like KCP can clamp him. Streaky shooter - this is magnified in a 7 game series where every game counts and you can expect him to go 1-9 or have 0 points. Weak defender - teams will key in on this and exploit it every time. It's futile to expect that to change.

There are like 2 people on here that really believe DLO is good enough to start on a legit contending team. Everyone else knows what DLO is.

He's a good player who's guaranteed to slump and lay eggs in big games at some point. It's happened EVERY year in his career.

People don't even talk about his December slump tanking the Lakers in the standings. Without that slump/losing streak, the Lakers obviously are higher in the standings.

He's a good player who can help teams. But relying on him to be your 3rd option is a no-no with those slumps/eggs. His defense is also an issue.

Just let DLO play out and see if he can improve.

He is also an expiring, so maybe he'll be easier to move by the trade deadline.

Or we can bring him back for much cheaper next season. We can also just let him expire and should open up some cap room.

As of now if DLo leaves next year we might have 5m to replace him. That’s dog poopoo money. Maybe JHS will be ready by then?

We should have more flexibility next season with DLO/Wood/Hayes/Cam coming off the books. We also have team options on JHS/Lewis, which should open up more space if needed. With the cap projected to rise even more cap room.

Lebron will be the key here again, If he opts out like I think he's going to do. It should open up almost $30m in capspace. That should be enough to bring in a game changer and still able to resign Lebron. Then will have vet minimum spots to fill the rest of the roster.

I think the FA class next season will be better also.

I don’t know how you’re getting here. All of the salaries you listed is like 27M. We are at 190M. Cap is like 140M. Even if Bron opts out we still have his cap hold no? Otherwise we can’t resign him.

My bad I think you're right... I forgot about his cap hold. I think even then will still have more flexibility.

We should be able to fit BAE and almost all of the MLE's into that capspace?

I have a new spicy claim. If we trade Russell we miss the playoffs.

The number of games LeBron has played since joining the Lakers:

55/82
67/71
45/72
56/82
55/82
71/82

The 71/82 was nice. He got to rest and heal his foot, whereas he has the summer olympics this year. And, frankly, he played way more off ball this past season as the offense ran through Russell, Davis, and Reaves. If we are getting rid of Russell then we're basically hoping that Reaves takes a leap since otherwise LeBron is our only above average playmaker. Yikes, don't like the sound of it for the ~20-25 games LeBron's likely to miss this season.

This is why it would have been a good idea to get DeRozan. He'd be more of a substitute for Lebron than a complement.

1:05 on the video is exactly what I have been saying for years in regards to his playoff failures.

Pretty common sense stuff. The comments are wild, so many fans genuinely think Dlo is a scrub lol

Summer offseason question.

Who is more valuable to a contender as the third best player?

Lamar Odom (pre-2012) or D'Angelo?

Both seem pretty similar to me in that they do a lot for the team that gets unnoticed. However for me what pulls me in Lamar's direction is that Lamar was reliable on defense. Lamar when push came to shove, was a quality defensive asset. He made his bonehead plays, but overall his defensive versatility really showed and helped us scheme.

With D'LO, I just don't see that 2-way impact. And if you're not Kyrie level, Lebron's teammates who don't bring 2-way impact tend to get lost in the shuffle.

Is this a serious question????? Its obviously Odom who may or may not be a slight downgrade to D'Lo offensively but defensively LO was miles better than D'Lo.

Odom

That’s not a close one, Odom was a point forward covering the 3,4 and 5. DLo’s comp is AR

Odom

Both very polarising figures on LG. Get a lot of unfair takes on D'LO, IMO. Sort of like LO did as well.

I just don't take to DLO the way I took to LO because I felt when push came to shove, LO did everything the team wanted to win (Rebound, defend the tougher assignment, set screens, play a little PG, cut to the basket etc).

DLO is like a poorman's Harden. He's really good, but on a Lebron team, a Lebron/AD team hard to see him end up with enough consistent touches to make a consistent impact. Interesting to see if JJ opens up the offense for him more that he gets more action.

Because if you have D'LO you need to utilize him like a Kyrie/Harden in your offense, even if he's not that good. He's an impact player when he can score and makes plays with the ball.

Lets also not forget who LO outplayed in the playoffs....peak Shawn Marion. D'Lo wont even sniff outplaying anyone of the caliber of prime Shawn Marion. Also despite Rashard Lewis's big contract and his big play shooting ability, Im still choosing Odom over Lewis as a player.

It actually was, because I think quite highly of DLO's skillset. In the Triangle, DLO would have been even better, IMO. He has a lot of the skills Phil would have valued, as well as the size as a PG.

The thing that D'LO loses me on is his defense. There are games where he is really trying. You can see it. Then it just goes away for a long stretch. I know he's not an elite defender, but I wish there were more consistent effort from him in that area. Because unlike Austin Reaves, I think if D'LO went all out on defense, he could be decent and disruptive on that end.

LO had a lot of good games in the playoffs. He never became the scorer on a consistent basis us fans wanted, but he was my favorite player. He didn't choke in the playoffs when we were good.

DLo is past the point of making significant improvements anywhere. He's 28.

Remember that DLo entered last season saying ALL the right things about trying to improve on defense. Remember the stuff he was saying about trying to be Derrick White?

He is what he is.

DJM was traded for two 1st round picks. How come we can’t get two 1st round picks for DLO in a trade.

The league is all about 3-point shooting, however it seems like DLO has less than zero trade value.

Odom, not close. DLO is a below average starting PG in the league.

Which PFs would you have taken over Odom in the 07-11 period— Duncan, KG, Dirk, Pau, Bosh, Stoudemire, maybe Boozer or Randolph…

Very rare, but Nash jumped to another level at 30 when he went to Phoenix. Cuban did not anticipate that, otherwise, he would have paid him.
