Remember when everyone was high on him post-Cavs. I was always curious how he would do WITHOUT Lebron.

I think a GM's true test is when they don't have that special player. We saw that with Mitch. When he had Kobe, he was great at managing assets. But when he had to re-build from scratch in CHA or with us from post-Kobe achilles, he sort of was mediocre.

Same thing with Griff, post-Lebron he hasn't been all that.

We were concerned about the same with Pelinka, but he'll not have to rebuild for many years and avoided that because he traded for Luka.

It's why I really put Presti now on that elite level. Dude built 2 contenders in 2 different generations, 15 years ago with KD/Westbrook/Harden on rookie deals. Then now again with this Thunder team. That's legit elite GM'ing.
