OFFICIAL MINOR LEAGUE TEAM OF THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In July 2006, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Buss family became the first NBA franchise to own an NBA Development League team, the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
The NBA G League’s South Bay Lakers, the first franchise in G League history to be owned by an NBA team (Los Angeles Lakers), will return for its 12th season of competition in 2018-19.
The Lakers franchise has established itself as a top producer of NBA-ready talent, totaling 29 NBA Call-Ups and developing 22 Lakers assignment players since the inaugural 2006-07 season.
Last season, the Lakers returned to the playoffs for the third year in a row and saw a pair of players receive NBA Call-Ups to the Los Angeles Lakers in Andre Ingram and Travis Wear.
The Lakers have claimed three division titles and have twice competed in the NBA G League Finals, most recently in 2015-16.
The Lakers will play their home games at the UCLA Health Training Center, the Lakers practice facility in El Segundo, CA. Information on South Bay Lakers 2018-19 season ticket packages and single-game tickets can be found by logging onto the team’s website (www.sblakers.com).

* Sharpshooter Frazier Looks to Build on Lakers Training Camp
Quote:
After spending training camp with the Lakers together, Frazier and Upshaw are looking to attract some eyes in the D-League.
The 3-point specialist and 7-foot behemoth anticipate that their connection formed with the Lakers could bleed into their time with the D-Fenders.
“I think we can definitely be a one-two punch in this league and really play off each other,” Frazier said. “He’s a great big with great shot-blocking potential. Everybody knows he can do that. He also has good mid-range game, touch around the basket — things like that.”
Overseas is a better opportunity than this one is, financially, but I’m not here for those reasons. I’m here to become a great basketball player and if I have to go through this, I’m going to do it… I’m definitely going to be playing basketball in the NBA. I don’t see myself playing ball overseas for a while. It’s just always been a goal and I’ve never given up, I’ve never quit.

D-Fenders ready for season with five former Lakers on roster
Quote:
This year's squad features five former Lakers, including guards Manny Harris and Vander Blue, who were midseason call-ups by the Lakers; and center Robert Upshaw and guard Michael Frazier, who both went through the preseason with the team last month.
The fifth is forward Malcolm Thomas, who briefly went through training camp with the Lakers in the lockout-shortened preseason of 2011.

Robert Upshaw: ‘I Knew I Was Going To Get Cut’ By The Lakers
Quote:
Despite showing a lot of potential as a solid rim protector, undrafted rookie center Robert Upshaw didn’t make the cut. Upshaw was waived by the Lakers, and that paved the way for the 21-year-old to sign with the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
During media day for the D-Fenders on Tuesday, Upshaw was asked whether it was difficult being cut by the Lakers. The rookie center claims he knew it was coming.
Come on Upshaw. Sacre isn't long for this Lakers world. Keep your ISH together and become a Laker! _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
