At this point, we can assign some of the blame for any violence and destruction on the part of MAGA directly on the DOJ and any prosecutors who have emboldened Trump by sitting on their hands while Trump proclaims his innocence.

This is the part of the Law & Order episode where they figure out a way to legally arrest the bad guy and hold him on temporary charges until they are ready to make the final charges.

The actual thing was both of em were Rs with D name tags. They were Dems like Tulsi was a Dem. We never had em to begin with, Kik. Not that I don't hate them, too, but I think we all got far ahead of ourselves hoping that even a shred of them was moveable on votes. Like King and other black leaders knew JFK was no civil rights guy, but at least they thought he was "pressurable". John Lewis stated that. In Mansion and Cinema's cases, they were utter DINOs. REAL -INOs. RINOs don't exist, but DINOs do because we've had 3 of em lately. Republicans in name only are only effin Republicans Trump is mad at, but who all vote lockstep w/ all the rest. Kinzinger and Cheney. Romney. Don't tell us those buggers are in name only. If the Rs had 3 firmly entrenched actual RINOs who voted with the Dems, they'd lose their sh. They went ape only because the supposed RINOs sided on pretenses the party claimed for decades (silliness like US elections aren't rigged; Russia is bad; law/order; don't sully the OO by taking one's coat off like Obama; family values; yadda yadda).

Plus the crime is not "paying off a porn star" as the media keeps repeating. The crime was laundering payments through his business on fraudulent grounds that included cooking the books, tax fraud and campaign finance violations. In that sense it's a textbook Trump crime. Lying, fraud, cooking the books and underpaying taxes.

Kinda reminiscent of the Lewinsky Clinton details being used for all they were worth by Repubs while they said suborning perjury was the REAL thing.

The differences: Although you could argue Bill had no shame, it was probably just the personal kind. He probably felt shame for his wife/kid. Trump has zero shame of any kind, obviously. He's not hurt by the simple use of the story's theme as in Sanctous' press conf. He was irked by Ron, but not for saying, "And did I say porn star payoff yet?". So the Dems got nothin on that front. There aren't any Rs coming out expressing disdain for Trump's sexual nastiness, but there were Dems who did that back when. Maybe not a ton, but how many Rs at all have mentioned that he was a poor role model for the children as they said about Bill? I don't even remember Romney saying that. The other difference is that Trump's crime is much less of a BS case than suborning perjury, as you mentioned above. There are financial frauds beyond the lying/perjury aspect. I know perjury is a crime, too, but just comparing the two, Trump did more sh than just the lying to cover it up.
