This is how much Republicans hate women and hate democracy. They'd rather harm our country's security than treat women like human beings. They are all garbage, every single one. The so-called "moderate" gop voters keeping voting for people who do this (bleep).

Quote:
Chuck Schumer @SenSchumer

GOP Senator Tuberville is holding up 160 military promotions—because he can’t get his way on blocking women in the military from receiving health care.

I can’t think of a worse time for Republicans to pull a stunt like this as threats against our country continue to grow.

Quote:
Chris Wallace interviewed Eva Longoria about why some Latinos are now voting Republican. Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks.

"CNN anchor Chris Wallace asked Hollywood star and activist Eva Longoria why “some Hispanics are now saying, you know, maybe the I’ve got a place in the Republican Party?”

On this week’s edition of HBO Max and CNN’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, Wallace interviewed Longoria and Succession star Brian Cox.

Wallace asked Longoria, who has been a prominent Democratic surrogate since former President Obama’s campaigns, about the inroads Republicans have made into cutting the Democratic advantage with Hispanic voters:"

(Joy Reid: As Trump effectively threatens civil war, we seem to lack urgency about authoritarianism)

Quote:
In France, millions have taken to the streets, protesting President Emanuel Macron's unpopular plan to raise the retirement age, accusing Macron of ruling by decree. In Iran, anti-regime protests have raged for months following Masha Amini`s death in police custody. In Nigeria, thousands protested the country's election results, alleging vote tampering and voter intimidation. Plus, Israel was nearly paralyzed by massive protests over far right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to weaken the country's judiciary. Meanwhile, in the U.S. we seem to lack the same urgency regarding our own authoritarian trends. Joy Reid and MSNBC analyst Charlies Sykes discuss.

Wallace asked Longoria, who has been a prominent Democratic surrogate since former President Obama’s campaigns, about the inroads Republicans have made into cutting the Democratic advantage with Hispanic voters:"

There was an MSNBC feature about this topic recently called "Field Report With Paolo Ramos." They interviewed some Hispanic moms in Florida, and they were talking about the topic of LGBTQ people and teaching kids about those people in public school. One mom said that LGBTQ people should be put into separate classes from straight people so that they wouldn't stand out, and another mom accused the schools of "pushing" and "promoting" LGBTQ onto kids as young as Kindergarten age. She claimed she didn't have a problem with that community, but she later said she was afraid her kids would be "influenced" to become gay.

This mom even campaigned with Ron DeSatan as part of his "don't say gay" BS, and she even said at a rally, "Your kids are not safe in the school system," referring to the "woke" curriculum.

A lot of these moms said they used to be Dems, or at least voted for Obama. Now they're Trumpers, all because they've been brainwashed to think that the public schools are turning kids gay and demonizing white people. That mom also said that racism still exists, but it's racism toward white people, not towards POC.

These are the feathered rats who are deciding our elections these days.

Yes "conservative Latinos" have often sided with Republicans. And for the same reasons other "conservatives" do. It's not about "small government" its about fear and loathing of the same people R's dislike -- non-whites, LGBTQ, non-Christians, etc. And they often look down on "newer immigrants" who didn't come here the "right" way.

I have a particular kind of dislike for Hispanic sellouts . . . those that vote for the GOP.

I feel the same way about non-whites and non-straight people who vote Republican.

These non-white and non-straight Republican voters are too eager to be accepted by a party that dislikes and even hates them.

EFF them.

I write all this as a Mexican man: born in Mexico and naturalized in the USA.

(Martin Fletcher: 'Complicated situation in Israel' is all about defending democracy, not religion)

Quote:
Former NBC News Tel Aviv Bureau Chief Martin Fletcher, author of “Teachers: The Ones I Can’t Forget,” joins Andrea Mitchell to explain the situation in Israel where thousands are protesting Prime Minister Netanyahu’s controversial judicial overhaul, which Netanyahu announced he will delay until after the Passover holidays. “This is not a battle between the secular and the religious. That's the wrong way to look at it,” says Fletcher. “This is a fight between those people who want to defend democracy, and there are plenty of people on the right, members of Likud, who understand that so they're demonstrating in the streets, too. This is a very complicated situation in Israel.”

On some level, I can get why some Latinos may have the inclination to vote GOP. They are very religious and family-oriented, and like many immigrants, they're also entrepreneurial.

However, when the GOP keeps talking s*** about their own people, they have absolutely NO excuse to vote GOP. Of course, if some Latinos are just as bigoted as white non-Latinos who vote GOP, there's nothing we can do about that (probably).

I'm Jewish, and most of us vote Democrat. One of the many reasons why is because the GOP has promoted or repeated antisemitic tropes. We know better than to vote for those bastards.

As an African American, I feel similarly towards Candace Owens, Thomas Sowell, Jason Whitlock, etc. Grifters. Making $ off of bold face lying and giving a Black face to legitimize racism against their own race.

But I don't necessarily feel the same way towards every Black Republican voter.

(GOP’s ‘Woke’ war shredded by the singer behind ‘stay woke,’ Singer Erykah Badu)

Quote:
Many Republicans attack what they call “woke” politics, from Gov. DeSantis to former President Trump. Singer Erykah Badu, who first coined the term “woke” in her 2008 song “Master Teacher,” responds and offers context on the meaning of the term in an interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber. This is an excerpt from a longer discussion available online, the newest installment of “Mavericks with Ari Melber,” a series of interviews with artists, musicians and cultural icons (msnbc.com/mavericks).

he is an escape artist but this does smell of being pressured not to be the first one out of the gate. Right or wrong it just feels like gamesmanship which seems odd when the health of the country is at stake. IMHO of course.

The Young Turks

(Rural Americans Are Losing Hospitals Because Republicans Are Refusing To Expand Medicaid)

Quote:
Mississippi has rejected federal funds to expand medicaid and rural hospitals in the state are paying the price. Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks.

"Since its opening in a converted wood-frame mansion 117 years ago, Greenwood Leflore Hospital had become a medical hub for this part of Mississippi’s fertile but impoverished Delta, with 208 beds, an intensive-care unit, a string of walk-in clinics and a modern brick-and-glass building.

But on a recent weekday, it counted just 13 inpatients clustered in a single ward. The I.C.U. and maternity ward were closed for lack of staffing and the rest of the building was eerily silent, all signs of a hospital savaged by too many poor patients.

Greenwood Leflore lost $17 million last year alone and is down to a few million in cash reserves, said Gary Marchand, the hospital’s interim chief executive. “We’re going away,” he said. “It’s happening.”

All of the alleged “strategy” by the DOJ and the various prosecutors is not only playing right into Trump’s hands, it’s putting the country in grave danger. (bleep) fools.

Why is Thomas still a Supreme Court Judge? Why aren't Democrats, Republicans and Advocacy Groups calling for his impeachment? I've left a message for Alejandro “Alex” Padilla at his office in Washington with my concerns. I'm in the process of going to his web site padilla.senate.gov to voice them via email. My 1 voice is a whisper but how many others are whispering? If you want to whisper call/write your Senator.

LINK

Quote:
In a functioning democracy – which we don’t have – Justice Thomas would be impeached, and Ginni Thomas would have lost the right to head up political action groups, which are often charitable organizations, or – at least, not subject to taxes. But, as said, that requires a functioning democracy that goes by the letter of the Constitution.

One would hope that this revelation by the Washington Post would lead to the quick and non-partisan impeachment of Thomas. But fck if the GOP is giving up their “Auto-Conservative” seat to be filled by Joe Biden.

You’re asking why Republicans aren’t asking for Thomas’ impeachment? I think you know why.

Also Democrats don’t have control of the house so they can’t do anything to impeach him anyway.

(Brendan Buck: Republicans ‘quite content to ignore’ centrist voters who support gun reform action)

Quote:
Washington Post Senior National Political Correspondent Ashley Parker and Brendan Buck, former communications advisor to Speakers Boehner and Ryan, join Andrea Mitchell to discuss the lack of political will among congressional Republicans to work toward further gun safety reforms following the Covenant School shooting in Nashville. “Republicans care much more about the base than they do about winning general elections. And they are quite content to ignore the middle that would like to see a lot of action on this,” says Buck. He explains that an assault weapons ban may be popular among voters, but “not with Republican base voters and, and not with the loudest voters.” Parker adds, “Among the base, some of these votes are just, they are political nonstarters. And that's what Republicans fear, most of all.”
