The lotto pick is in the bag. League wants us to bring in Magic and to get rid of Jim, and to also be good again so they're granting us the No. 1 pick. Don't believe me? See what they did for Cleveland 4 years in a row! |
I certainly hope so but if we fall behind PHX and end up at that #3 slot, anything goes. At least at the #2 slot our odds are tremendously better at staying in the top 3. |

"For all the talk about "Lakers 2.0," the Rob Pelinka introduction touted Dr. Buss, Kobe, free-agent pursuits, and off-court opportunities."

Is it still in secret or do they cameras on the drawing now? |
They've had it recorded for as long as we've been in the lottery or more. I've seen the videos they're online |

I see them going back to 2013. It used to be "take our word for it", IIRC. |

A bit disturbing, every basketball related question Pelinka triangulates over to the business side or Magic butts in and answers. |

The questions about our young players, including today, are usually asked in a framework of "is this young core a championship core?" What would any reasonable person say? Of course they're not one now, and A LOT of things have to go right in order for them to ever be one.
But if you listened to Pelinka's response, he talked about adding to them. There was a good deal of focus on Free Agency in the presser today. Does that mean that the young guys are safe? Certainly not, but if we're gonna be aggressive in Free Agency, how safe our young guys are is directly tied to their financial burden more than anything else.
Randle's in the most danger prior to next year's trade deadline, because he's up for an extension after next season. Clarkson's already making $12M next year. The other guys will certainly be outperforming their respective contracts. |

I like what I heard so far, but's it's just talk. Let's see what happens.
I get the feeling that 1 of our 'young core' may be moved in a deal.
Here are the most likely (percent below) to move IMO:
Clarkson (30)
Randle (25)
Russell (20)
Nance (10)
Zubac (10)
Ingram (5)
Since the Top 2 picks will likely be Point Guards, I think that makes Clarkson the most expendable in a deal. Getting paid 12 mil a year also makes him moveable IMO. |

There's a joke around here that is something like:
"Heaven is where police is British, cooks are French, mechanics are German, lovers are Italian and it's all organized by Swiss. Hell is where police is German, cooks are British, mechanics are French, lovers are Swiss and it's all organized by Italians".
I believe the same goes for the Lakers now:
"Heaven is where Magic does PR, Pelinka negotiates and Ryan/Jesse scout players. Hell is where Pelinka does PR, Ryan/Jesse negotiates and Magic scout players"
If everyone stick to what they do best, we'll be fine. _________________ .... |

Tidbit I heard during his 710 interview - he said if the Lakers want, they could trade into the draft if they end up losing the pick. Didn't say they WOULD, but answers with that as a possible route they could take when Mason asked if he has a plan if the pick is lost. _________________ Austin Reaves

Just something interesting i picked up on today.
listened in the car live and just watching the reply now on TV...
I thought that story about Kobe and '07 was interesting, hearing it the first time I was kind of confused, like didn't he demand a trade? Will play on Pluto, etc...
Hearing it a second time it was clear there apparently wasn't ever a desire to leave (even though we have heard going to the Clippers was a real possibility) sounded to me like the entire thing was designed to spark the lakers to do something.
sorry if this is old news but it just got my attention today as an interesting insight into a pivotal point in Laker history. |

That's the vibe that I got too. He is not attached to any of these young guys which could be a good thing or a bad thing. I'm legit scared 😳 _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season
