What really irks me is that he had the #1 and championship dominant defense and blue print, trashed all the pieces into the garbage and then even though he had a chance to get back to that level using WB's expring deal + draft picks he instead used it on offense first/1-way players.

Not only did he give AD/Bron elite offense ala Warriors/Nuggets at their best, he didn't even give them back the elite defense they once had in the 2019-2021 era.

It isn't hard to build defense around AD. Pelinka has made it. The blue print was right there for him. Athletic big with long arms that can rim protect, guards and small wings that will give high defensive motors off the ball, run around and through screens if they have to. A POA defender. AD being able to play the 4 and 5. It isn't some rocket science. He's made it that way.

I'm not trying to defend Pelinka or anything but it doesn't help that the second best defender on the team is a creampuff.

Leaning towards trolling in this case. Feeling charitable.

I don’t know who you are, or who you think you are, but failing to articulate your position in any sort of meaningful way is a YOU problem.

As is a lack of reading comprehension

Did LeBron and Davis give Pelinka the green light to gut the team for Westbrook

Who convinced Pelinka THT was better than Caruso

I don't think a competent GM would have allowed these trades or allowed his players to convince him to gut the team for Captain ADHD Westbrick

Hindsight is 20/20... But where was the foresight

This season was all Pelinka, btw. He said it himself he makes all the final decisions. Not sure what more you want to see from Pelinka.

If you keep defending Pelinka, then that must mean you are ok with the current state of the Lakers. Don't replace Pelinka if you like watching play-in basketball every year. God help us if we couldn't even make the play-in with AD on the team.

FYI, Pelinka tried to sign Klay and could have gotten Grant this offseason so he dodged two massive bullets like a bawss. We're terrible now but it could have been even worse. Just sayin'

Do...you...still...believe...in...Pelinka?

I believe in Santa Claus but I don't believe Pelinka could win another championship with the Lakers.

I'm not a fan of Pelinka either, but there were several free agents this summer and they all said no to the Lakers. We have one of the best defenders in the league who's a top 75 player and a guy who claims he's the GOAT....but players didn't come to L.A. to play for the Lakers because of Pelinka. Get real!!!

This. We are not a destination for players or coaches with the current team.

Everyone knows they will be blamed. Which would be fine if they got to shop for the groceries

We have not been the top destination for players for a long time. Back in the day, we had a top GM who is also an HOF, Jerry West, in the front office. We also had one of the greatest coaches of all time, Phil Jackson. Free agent wanted to come here not just because Lakers were the most popular team in the NBA. I feel like the favourable destinations for players now are the Warriors and Heats. It is not a coincidence that both teams have a highly respected coach and front office.

The Lakers have an inexperienced GM and coach. They haven't established any reputation to make players want to play for them

Would people rather have Pelinka in charge or Jesse Buss take over?

Jesse is the Assistant GM, I blame him also.

Ah yes... an athletic point guard that needs the ball in his hands 95% of the time to be effective and is a career 33% three point shooter and is very much not a catch and shoot off ball guy, on a team with LeBron James...

And needing to give up tons of depth to get said player...especially with the new rules in place.

What could possibly go wrong..

R u referring to Fox? Like u wouldn’t trade for him while retaining AD/Bron/Bronny?

You do know that LeBron’s days here are numbered? Making a long term decision and considering LeBron’s fit doesn’t make sense.

It's never gonna happen. The way the Lakers treated Mike Brown there's no way in hell they'll let us have De'Aaron Fox, if that's who you're talking about. Plus they're in the same division.

This is the type rumor news that will make Rob sit on assets even longer… Lakers trying to make a move way before the deadline is all smokescreen bs.

I don't think people give Magic enough credit for being president of basketball operations. I believe him when he said he was handcuffed. Rob got the job because of Kobe. He had no GM experience. If he corrals De'Aaron Fox an extension is on lock.
