Elevation Predicticable but has edge of seat moments. The finale suggests an Independence Day theme. A sequel will depend on the success of the movie. It's worth a watch. 1 to 10 I rate 7

Post-apocalyptic survivors find refuge in the Rocky Mountains to hide from giant, insect-like creatures that can't live above 8,000 feet. However, when one of them needs life-saving supplies, they risk it all to venture into the danger zone.

Transformers One is a very underrated movie. It is by far the best Transformers movie even though it's an animation.

This is the second animated film I watched. Moana 2 was the other. I think I'll watch Mufasa: The Lion King. I think it's an AI musical.

Thank ^you^ for resurrecting this thread. I was too lazy for the hunt so I posted the following in the TV thread. Now it is where it belongs.

A Chance Encounter is a movie on Prime. I should add that it is not highly rated so this is not a favorite of the average American. It is quite the opposite of the adrenaline fueled Yellowstone, or most network TV for that matter. Nothing happens except the interaction of two people as they get know each other. And yet, I've watched it several times.

It reminds me of, say, its cousin, one of my favorite movies, certainly my favorite "Indy" movie (low budget, natural lighting): Once. In Once, we have two characters brought together by circumstances and music. While I am not a fan of musicals, I find that I am drawn to films immersed in music, or better yet, actually performed by musicians. In this, the song "Falling Slowly" was masterfully performed live and essential to the story of the film and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Another similarity of the two movies is that both have central protagonists that are not actors.

In A Chance Encounter, we have two artists, a poet and a folk singer (Andrea von Kamper in real life) slowly revealing themselves to each other, in large part via their art, as they enjoy the beauty and charm of Sicily. Creating art is central to the movie, not only in the search for inspiration, but in the vulnerability an artist can have in revealing their art. As our couple spend time together they appear to become enchanted with each other, but like in Once, nothing is overt, and their paths have uncertain destinations--and I might add, just like the two protagonists from Sofia Coppola's brilliant Lost in Translation.

Andrea's music is really good, really, really good, and adds much to the feel of the movie—so much so that I’ve been listening to her music ever since. It is good to see that original, talented folk singers still can be heard.

I watched The Wiz a 1978 musical parody of The Wizard of Oz tonight for the umpteenth time. I'm not a fan of musicals but this one keeps me riveted. 400 or even 650, performing simultaneously is a thing of dancing beauty. Nipsy Russell surprised me with his dancing ability. Michael was just being Michael. Diana Ross is a good dancer. The Cast has many Black notables.

Watched Eggers' remake of Nosferatu in theater yesterday. What a visual treat, and stellar performances all around.

Has anybody seen Emilia Perez?
I'm watching a review on it right now. And the reviewer isn't a fan.

HIGH ROLLERS John Travolta. Interesting plot with a twist. A master thief and his crew must pull off a near-impossible casino heist after his nemesis kidnaps the woman he loves. With the FBI hot on his tail, he must gamble everything in pursuit of the big score and the ultimate jackpot -- saving her life. The finale is a surprise. 1-10 I give it 7.5

I watched a classic tonight. It has more top stars in it at the same time than any movie I've seen. The first 6 are A movie actors. I don't know how many here know the actors in this movie. They were the cream of the crop back in the day. This is an Ol Skool movie. Casablanca CAST

Warfare

10/10. Will probably pay to watch it again. No creative license, no studios trying to solve the world's problems with their casting decisions, no music.

I saw it in a smaller regal edwards auditorium near the back of the theater with no 4dx/dolby (but Sinners was on in the big flashy rooms, go figure) yet the sound was devastating. This is one of maybe 5 movies in the last 9 years that were made for the big screen. There will not be a better experience at the movie theaters for the rest of the year, guaranteed. Looking at you jonnybravo

I watched it and if someone asked me to go again, I'd pay a second time. I really liked it. MBJ turned in a great performance (x2). Ryan Coogler really moved up a notch in the pantheon of great filmmakers. And man, I couldn't take my eyes off of Hailee Steinfeld. oof.

I made sure to get out and see it in the theatre. Too bad it came out during Minecraft week, etc because they only had one Dolby showing each day at 9:30pm the opening week. Anyways, I saw it in a smaller AMC auditorium and it was intense and enjoyable. Man those kids are young, and running themselves out there. I knew the plot going in, but my wife was not quite sure what the point was, lol.

I also saw Black Bag a while back. Going knowing that is very dialogue heavy and not an action spy movie, and you should enjoy it more than the review scores.

The Amateur was very good. Rami plays his character really well. Some decent action and some intelligent strategy, and traps are employed.

I went to see The Accountant 2 in Dolby Cinema. Good movie, filled with a generous amount of humor. I think the rotten tomato scores are a little high. I guessed it got a 75 critic, 85 audience, but it actually got more like a 85 critic, 95 audience. A little bigger action than the first one, and it's worth a quick refresher on the characters from the Accountant 1 if you don't remember it.

I gave it 7. Michael B (Bakari) Jordan played 2 characters, Smoke & Stack. Michael B. Jordan uses the middle initial "B" to avoid confusion with the legendary basketball player, Michael Jordan.

I liked it! it was entertaining and gave me a few laughs. Just a touch overrated to give it 90's audience score.

This week we have The Surfer and the new Marvel movie. I don't think I will see the Marvel movie, but TBD on The Surfer.

I really liked The Accountant 2 as well. It’s cliche but I thought they nailed it. Exactly what you’d expect, but in a good way. Easy popcorn flick.

saw havoc on netflix- just ok- a little john woo vibe on some of the fight scenes. Hardy made it watchable. Crazy how unathletic timothy olyphant is.

Stoked for Mission Impossible. I got tickets for Thursday 2pm IMAX, dead center. If anybody needs 2 tickets for century city, I will coordinate cancelling.
