Melton is a 6'3.5 combo G with good length. He's regarded as an amazing defensive prospect. Combo guard more of a SG. Many drakniks believe he had the best combine scrimmage of all the prospects. He's a pretty darn good athlete, with an improving shot. 20 years old only played as a Fresh, sat out last year due to eligibility violation.

I think if he had played this season he would be considered in the lottery.

Word is that defense is the number one attribute our team will be focusing on with our draft picks and if he happens to be there I can’t imagine we would pass on him.

We were also his first interview at the combine.

If he looks good shooting in workouts, I'd love the pick. But he has that hurdle to get over, so if he ends up an iffy shooter, he might be Marcus Smart. And that's still plenty useful at 25 overall. So I voted for "decent pick."

Melton impact on day 1 is already a positive player thanks to his defense. Anything on offense is a bonus, and he's on his way there. I think getting him at 25 would be amazing. A backcourt of lonzo and melton would be one of the best defensive backcourts in the NBA day one. Our team is looking like a defensive monster in the making if we add melton.

That's all fair, yes. I still think there could be better options at 25 when we pick, though, so that's why I didn't say "very happy." But perhaps I should have. But I've always thought that Marcus Smart is crazy overrated, so if that's how he plays, I mean, I can appreciate that type of player at 25, but for me to say "very happy" with that, I'd probably be lying.

Actually, now that you mention it, if we draft him, it probably means he showed something offensively in workouts, so I guess I'd be very happy LOL.

Impossible to predict how he will perform in front of Magic, but if he does well, I'm ok with him, but would still rather have Holiday to back-up Ball... (if he was available)...

Looking at his shooting video, I think any reputable shooting coach will make him a decent shooter year 1, guaranteed year 2. Looks like he's already working with a solid shooting coach w that form

I think he's the next Boston Avery Bradley(maybe not 40% but better off dribble) I would like this pick a lot.

He's 5 years older and still has uglier shooting form.. Melton made a few jumpers at the combine scrimmage that looked really good, I'll take his upside there

Voted "Very happy," but at this point, i'm drunk on the Jesse Buss Kool-Aid. IF he drafts the bartender that used to advise Jim Buss I'll be like "hmmmm must be good!"

Given height, build and skill set maybe Lance Stephenson hopefully without personality issues.

In the G-league I saw too many instances where he got blown on drives to the basket. The best man defender was by far Demarcus Holland.

Not just that, but GPII tried to flash defense as an event creator at Oregon St. It helped a little but, but considering his wingspan and lateral agility, he can't change directions well. He can cut off the first drive, but if the offensive player changes direction, he's out of the picture.
