Las Vegas Summer League Schedule Announced
https://www.nba.com/lakers/releases/180612-las-vegas-summer-league-schedule-announced
NEW YORK– The Lakers will begin defense of their Summer League title against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, July 7 at 11:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2. For the first time, every Summer League game will air live on television, with ESPN networks and NBA TV combining to televise a record number of games.
MGM Resorts NBA Summer League, which features all 30 NBA teams for the first time, will tip off with a record 10 games on Friday, July 6 and continue through Tuesday, July 17 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The first day of action will include five games on NBA TV and a tripleheader on ESPN.
Spectrum SportsNet will televise the final two Lakers games, but the July 7th game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers will not be televised.
The tournament-style format will culminate with the Championship Game on July 17 at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN. Last year’s event, won by the Los Angeles Lakers behind 2017 Summer League MVP Lonzo Ball and 2017-18 NBA All-Rookie First Team selection Kyle Kuzma, set records for total attendance, single-day attendance, combined viewership across ESPN and NBA TV, and traffic to the NBA’s social and digital platforms.
For the second consecutive year, ESPN will present every game from Las Vegas via the ESPN App, along with a record 46 games on its linear television channels (ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU).
Each team will play a minimum of five games at MGM Resorts NBA Summer League, starting with three preliminary contests from July 6-10. The teams will then be seeded in the tournament, which starts on July 11 and concludes with the Championship Game on July 17.
Tickets for MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2018 are on sale now. Fans can purchase tickets by visiting NBATickets.com. |

^ Nice. Just shows how big LV SPL has gotten. They can thank last season's rookie class who made a big splash last summer.
Even if we don't have a top 10 lottery pick to watch for the first time in four years, I still enjoy seeing all the new prospects. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

I assume Andre Ingram will be on the team, but will Matt Thomas be on the squad?
As much as I like Andre Ingram as a shooter, I think Matt Thomas may be better.
Off of memory, who do y’all think is the better defender of the two? |

https://www.nba.com/lakers/releases/180514-california-classic-summer-league
The Lakers will play in the inaugural California Classic Summer League at the Sacramento Kings’ Golden 1 Center from July 2-5.
The Lakers will face every other member of the four-team field, beginning with an 8 p.m. matchup with the event hosts on Monday, July 2.
L.A. will then face the Miami Heat on Tuesday, July 3, at 6 p.m. before getting a day off for Fourth of July. It will conclude its slate against the Golden State Warriors at noon on Thursday, July 5.

California Classic
While Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma will not participate in Summer League this year, the Lakers will have plenty of young talent available for the roster.
Josh Hart and Thomas Bryant are expected to be participate in Summer League this July, and will likely be joined by whichever rookies are drafted by the Lakers in June.
The Lakers won’t have time to rest after their four days in Sacramento, as they will also look to defend their title at the Las Vegas Summer League, which runs from July 6-17. |

I have Caruso and Bryant as a virtual locks to make next year’s roster on 2-way contracts (with Bryant having to be released and resigned), but, because of the Leonard situation and the possibility of the Lakers, sometime during the season, sending out four players to match salary for Leonard (Ball, Ingram, Ennis, and #25 or Kuzma), there will be lots of competition for spots on the G-League roster, even though many of these guys will not be actually signed.
My summer league roster looks something like this (#47 pick gets traded or does not get signed to active roster):
PG - Caruso (virtual lock as 2-way contract) - Payton (needs comp for this spot as first guard up off Gteam after a trade)
SG - Ingram (needs comp 4 pure-shooter role) - M.Thomas (should push Ingram, only one will make active roster)
C - Bryant (lock as resigned 2-way after release) - (any warm body here after Zubac is released for space)
PF - Wear (lock on Gteam 2 replace Kuz or 25 if traded) - #25 pick (a modern PF/C to replenish bigman depth)
SFs - (two guys for Summer League battle that hopefully bleeds onto Gteam, one will get 2-way if there’s a trade)
Full roster (underlined players unsigned on G-League, bolded players on 2-way):
PG - James - Ball - Ennis - Payton (or his comp)
SG - Hart - Clark - Ingram - Caruso
C - Randle - Black - Frye - Bryant
PF - Ingram - Kuzma - Diop - Wear
SF - George - Jefferson - Aflalo - South Bay SF _________________ A creative scorer, a wing defender, and a shooter. |

Lakers officially informed LiAngelo Ball he will not be on their Summer League team last night. They were determined to make this a basketball decision but as one source put it, “obviously there’s more to it than basketball.” In other words— the LaVar effect was real. https://twitter.com/ramonashelburne/status/1010190585901154306?s=17 _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |
