187. claps back

Eech. That's a gross piece of Gen Z foolishness. I hate both the lameness of the term in general and also that it's based off of an ACTUAL thing which is gross, too. And a clap back in practice is often over something revoltingly low-class or stupid BY someone revoltingly low-class or stupid. OH!(clap) KAAY!(clap)

I would normally not put this on the list, but yesterday I saw it in a Fox News chan Youtube video header. That's why I'm back here to add it. If they use it, I wouldn't bet my life that CNN or MSNBC think it's too tacky to use themselves. I'm keeping my eye out for it on those channels. I don't need to see a video about Finland clapping back at Putin over the Ukraine invasion.

Sir Galahad

Something's going down in this pic. There seems to be a blessing about to take place. Not the best idea if he's to go into battle. He's gonna wanna fall asleep afterwards.

185) flotsam, jetsam, lagan, derelict

All slight variants of sh that went overboard a ship, each getting its own word. Flotsam = stuff that floated from a sunken ship. Jetsam = deliberately tossed overboard a ship. Lagan = something sunken to the ocean floor, but marked w/ a buoy for retrieval. Derelict = crap sunken to ocean floor for whatever reason, but not marked and abandoned.

Derelict in theory is OK, but that Odyssey Marine Exploration crew picked up a load of old Spanish gold coins that went into legal hell. Wikileaks showed that the US Govt traded them to Spain for a lost painting of some influential US citizen. So derelict gold is a bunch of hooey. Same group found the Brit Gairsoppa vessel that was sunk in 1941 by a Uboat while trying to smuggle 1000 oz silver ingots out of England. It was part of a convoy for protection, but had to drift off because it was running low on fuel and became a sitting duck in a shipping lane (which Uboats targeted). Gairsoppa might translate to sitting duck. Odyssey played it smarter this time and negotiated w/ the Brits for 60% of the booty.

184) odyssey

Hard ass word to spell. The 1st Y? Cmon. Good word (like "ghoul"), but bad spelling. Oddicy should be the spelling.

I saw a docu on whalefalls in the Mariana Trench recently. I'm waiting for the perfect segue to talk about whalefalls.

I had to go and google it and watch the video at this link. Friday afternoon procrastination, guess it could be worse timing.

Definitely a very cool phenomenon. I'm fascinated by what goes on the deepest reaches of the ocean and the bizarre creatures that inhabit them. Whale falls and hydrothermal vents are definitely unique oasises of life.

Oh, that's cool that you people above just brought up whalefalls out of nowhere. By sheer coincidence, I saw a video on this phenomena. This vid or another on the channel showed some black smoker vents. Eerie. Must be immensely hot because you can see the water rippling and roiling at the deepest point of the ocean which must be as cold as water could get next to freezing point. I don't find it shocking that critters have colonized around vents because Mr. Darwin told tale of a cactus species that consumed dried lava on the Galapogos. Weirder stuff has happened. Life....uh......finds...ah...well, there you have it...

Now that that's over with, I'm waiting for a segue to present my theory on the meaning of Madonna's "Like A Virgin". I just rewatched Reservoir Dogs recently.

181.) the system is just competely broken

hyperbole usually used by some dickhead to describe a system that works pretty well for the most part

"I got arrested for beating my girlfriend for the 6th time and I got a 10 year sentence! The system is just completely broken."

Some snakes empty their holdings thru the cloaca as a defensive mechanism when people grab them behind the head. Venomous and non-venomous ones. Evolutionary pressure has caused them to use feces as a deterrent, much like Amber Heard does. And for the same reason. Most animals retreat from feces. Johnny Depp is no exception and Amber, very much like a snake, avoided predation by engaging in this practice.

173) Frusen Gladje

As in, "Who ate all the Frusen Gladje?!..."

Was peepin some old commercials from 1986 and this one came on. This is one of those things that left my brain 36 years ago never to return and the second I heard it again, I remembered it. Weird how the mind can store useless stuff like that in decades worth of dormancy. If I hadn't watched that video, I wouldn't have remembered Frusen Gladje as a thing for 30 more yrs.

I ate all the Stater Bros' generic Neopolitan (if anything at all) back in 86. I didn't get no Frusen Gladje then. A slightly elder statesman like Da Mule with a haughty air of sophistication ate all the Frusen Gladje. I didn't rate Swiss sounding "luxury" ice cream. I was happy enough to get generic snacks and Shasta instead of Pepsi. And the Shasta I was happy enough to get in cans, not as crappy 2 L jugs to mix with freezer ice.

172) brutal, unhinged

Youtube video title c_m. Similar to "bombshell" in newschannel clips/headers. Those kinds of false-descriptors were called "news c_m" by Jon Stewart recently. Brutal is overused by younger people in general, as is destroyed, etc. I moved on from MSNBC to watching Fernie Bee links and Pakman/Meisellas/TYT, etc, use a younger brand of title c_m than the mainstream media they constantly claim are phony. Just mix it up a little, they go stale quick. And stop claiming Trump humiliated/embarrassed himself. He's incapable of either. He's more incapable than maybe anyone else alive.
