The attack is coming from Iranian soil.

| This is not as bad as many are making it out to be, and the title of the thread is misleading. There were hours of advanced warning. The risk is if God forbid any fall through and lead to loss of civilian life, Israel takes the next step of escalation. Then you have full on war that no one (except maybe Bibi himself) wants. |

Seems like a face saving attack by Iran after the embassy bombing.
They did something similar to us a few years ago after we killed one of their main generals.

That depends on Bibi. If there is no damage to Israel (which seems the most likely result), I think the U.S. will be very direct with him behind the scenes. Iran has said they think the matter is closed and they gave the U.S. advance warning. The U.S. does not want Israel dragging it into a war no matter how much Bibi wants it for his personal cause. |

In any event, this is all Putin. He's using Iran (and their client, Hamas) to draw resources away from Ukraine.
FWIW, I expect the US & UK to wipe out the Iranian air force.

True, but drones and cruise missiles are useless if the other side has air superiority. The US can not only establish air superiority, it can establish air supremacy just with the assets it has in place and nothing will be able to fly over Iran. USAF knocks out SAM & radar sites, then USN knocks out Iranian airplanes and any airfields capable of launching planes or drones. Iran may be able to launch a dozen or so drones off of highways, but then USAF comes back and drops bomblets on Iranian highways with impunity.
We cannot win ground wars without a heavy investment, but Uncle Sam can pretty much create a no-fly zone anywhere on Earth..
