I know Luka is the future... But which one is the better contender today and could possibly win the title this season?

Team A: Shutdown Defense w/ deeper bench (2029 FRP and 2 SRP)

Williams/Hayes/Wood
AD/Rui
Lebron/DFS
Max/Vando/Bronny
AR/Gabe/Shake/JHS

Team B: Better Offense (1 SRP)

Williams/Hayes/Wood
Lebron/Maxi/Kief
Rui/Vando
AR/DFS/Bronny
Luka/Gabe/Shake

Why are the draft picks relevant if the question is today?

Luka > AD/Max, for now and most importantly the future. Having a player that can not only score in the clutch down the stretch but also be a force to be reckoned with makes an LBJ team scarily formidable to opponents.

The Lakers will miss Max as a role player but with Vando back, and seeing DFS start at SG against the Clips, seems to indicate that Max’s absence is covered.

Give me team B with Luka now that MWil has been added.

Really there are arguments for both, but I have to go with Luka on this one, albeit not having seen him on the court in a Laker uniform yet.

Yeah Luka vs. AD/Max would be like Jordan vs. Ewing/Starks.

I get it's premature to put Luka on Michael's level but at Luka's age Michael was still impeded by Larry and Magic.

Lebron is already the clutch, unstoppable scorer down the stretch. William is no where the rim protector that AD is. So Luka handling the ball down the stretch isn't going to be very much better than Lebron doing it. However, our defense will definitely be worse without AD and with Bron and Luka on the floor at the same time.

Team A is 100% definitely better for TODAY. Team B is for the future like many have said and the future is uncertain.

Team A more balanced and defensively strong

Team B offensive firepower all over

Hard to say. When in doubt I always go with defense, but I'm happy to see the team we have do work.

You guys still don’t see that we have Bron and Luka to run the teams, they’re also surrounded by a gang of wings and a gang of bigs, oh there’s also 6th MOY level AR

This team’s ceiling is way up there TODAY

I can't wait. Our offense might be unstoppable so if we just played a little bit of defense, we'd be able to outscore every team in the league. On papers, it seems that way at least.

Team A is more balanced.
Team B cannot be defended.

Team B for me as having LBJ, Luka and AR will make them reach the clutch time with energy and I feel they are unstoppable in that position.

Now that we have Williams, Hayes and hopefully stretch big Wood/Kleiber by playoff too, with our wings and a motivated Bron, our defense is gonna be above average too. I think either scenario we ARE better with a huge athletic big next to Hayes. Let’s get this #18 fever!

This is a good question! Both teams look really good. I'd go with the Luka team, because too many times in '23 and '24 in crunch time, the Lakers had an issue of not having enough shot creation due to LeBron's age and AD's singular flaw (imo).

I'm still worried about the team's PoA defense but the offense will be insane and you can balance things out by staggering AR and Luka as much as possible (in other words, playing Vincent next to Luka as much as possible).
