Jason Clarke is suiting up for the HBO drama pilot “Showtime.”
The one-hour series focuses on the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers. Clarke has been cast as Jerry West.
West first joined the Lakers as a player in 1960, being named an All-Star in all of his 14 seasons with the team before retiring in 1974. He was then named head coach in 1976, a position he held for three seasons. He went on to become a scout and then general manager in 1982.
Clarke’s West is described as the cantankerous tortured genius of basketball. West ought to be the perfect man to build the Lakers into a dynasty, if only he can get past his own worst enemy: Jerry West.

Well Wilt was not a part of Showtime...... It's on HBO so you might get lucky with Magic's performances........

| Worthy had a few encounters as well. It would be refreshing to see something that gives the whole picture of those legendary Laker players over those incredible years. |

Phil and West beef is gonna be epic. Who ever wins between the Lakers and Clippers in the finals next year will the shows finale as to who comes out on top.

Where are they even going to find the actors to portray the players?
I just bought the book by Jeff Pearlman on which the series is based. It's only $4.99 for the Kindle version.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. They're going to have to do some crazy special effects to make the 6ft actors they get look a foot taller.

I just want to watch a bottle episode with AC Green sitting on his couch drinking hot chocolate.
Maybe a bunch of extremely hot women find out where he lives and show up at his door wearing scant clothing. Then he invites them in. And they have a bible study.

The book is excellent and definitely the way to go vs. what will almost undoubtedly be a dire TV viewing experience. |

Larry Bird will also presumably be in it.
Add in a fictional scene with a little Kobe watching them on TV (I'm kidding). |
