Is this season only 7 episodes? Maybe I heard the promo wrong, but I thought I heard 9-17 is the finale |

I have been enjoying the show!! I think the acting, writing, shooting (camera), and music are so perfectly woven together that it watches like a documentary in parts, while not being afraid to break the 4th wall (magic and bird's characters do it the most).
Jerry West comes off as a real piece of work, and he's said it isn't all that accurate in interviews. I know there is a ton of "production" to make the "story" more watchable, ie marketable. I just get pumped when the Lakers Locker room looks at the camera and says Buck Foston!! I love it!
Adrien Brody as Riles is perfect. One of my favorite actors playing one of my favorite coaches. Fun to watch.
Been listening to My Favorite Mutiny by The Coup, the opening credits track, on repeat. Can't get enough, haha. _________________ All-Time Lakers Squad

Sean Patrick Small is so good as Larry Bird, perfect antagonist, I want to smash the TV every time he talks . Bad thing is we know he's gonna have his time in the season finale.
I'm enjoying the 2nd season even more, they are exploring the plots better. Also like that West is not so exaggerated as in Season 1. _________________ .... |

Oh. That explains the ending. The series began with Magic receiving his HIV diagnosis, so I thought it would end with it.
Wish the show could have gone out on a high note with us getting payback on those green weenies the following year. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

That was the original plan and bridge to the Shaq/Kobe era which isn’t happening now. |

with low viewership and the writers strike, this was a given _________________ LBJ + AD = More rings

Yeah the show kinda sucked honestly.
Their were a few good meme clips we can always go back to, but aside from that, the fact that in season 1, they didn't play a damn game until episode 5, or how they pulled a game of thrones (in terms of season 6-8 pacing) and do 4 years of that era in one season.
Not only I think it sucked, but so did Magic, Jerry West especially hates it since it portrayed as some crazy raging lunatic, and Kareem.
A shame because I thought it was a good idea, but poor execution. Which was why it had low viewership numbers and how not even the Lakers social media were even following it that much. Hardly anyone talked about it, including most lakers fans. _________________ Russell Westbrick: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

There's lots of contributing factors why shows get cancelled. Lack of quality was not it in this case. Seems like you're projecting your personal bias/feelings about the show like a lot of upset Laker fans were because they don't like their "heroes" to be portrayed as flawed humans. The show was excellent and most of the people I know that watched it and loved it weren't even Lakers fans. It appealed to more than just "hardcore Lakers" fans.
Hell, even Jeannie, Snoop and Rick Fox were recently promoting it and praising it on their social media.
Watching a show that's like 50% or more game recreations sounds like a pretty boring show for non-hardcore Lakers fans. We've already had those stories retold a million times ad nauseam between all the championship DVD movies, the Magic Johnson documentaries, the Bird and Magic documentary and more recently the Hulu Lakers Legacy 10 part series.
Did you really expect EACH championship season from that era to get ITS OWN season? We're talking at least 5 seasons MINIMUM before they can even move on to the Shaq/Kobe era.
And you do realize there's an industry-paralyzing strike taking place that is very strict on the amount of promotion that people involved in the shows can do? |

Way too many talented actors tied to this project for it to be called a wrap.
More like HBO gift wrapped it for an incoming Netflix poach in 3…2…. _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

The casting on this show was great. Magic, Kareem, Coop and of course Norm. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points." |

The plan actually wasn't to bridge to Kobe/Shaq. They just mentioned it a possibility since the Showtime book covered Kobe/Shaq, if the show was ro ever last that long.
Sad to see the show cancelled |

I really hope it gets picked up elsewhere. The show ditched a lot of the things that I didn't like about season 1 (the constant text on the screen, breaking the 4th wall, etc), and I thought season 2 was really well done for the most part. The casting and acting were both incredible. |

Cancelled after two lousy seasons! Mediocre show never to be remembered. Good call, HBO, Warner/Discovery suits. An insult to the true greatness of everyone associated with the Showtime Lakers. Good riddance to bad rubbish. |

You disappeared for a whole year and waited in the reeds to come back and gloat about a show's cancellation.
Imagine being so bitter that you get joy out of something like that, when you can just turn the channel and move on with your life. I guess idolatry makes human beings do weird things. |
