McVay needs to stop acting like he's the smartest dude in the room
The run plays are all telegraphed.
The pass routes are predictable.
He's literally just relying on his guys to out execute the other team. _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same."

I think some of y'all are being too harsh. Detroit is a legitimate Super Bowl contender. We were playing them on the road. You lose Nacua, who dominated them in the playoff game. And much more importantly, the OL situation was flat-out dire. I'm not sure I've seen a more dire OL situation in Week 1 of an NFL game, frankly. Down to your third-string LT. The starting RT is out, and then you lose Avila during the game, a plus lineman. It's remarkable that we were even able to move the ball at all. I totally agree that McVay often suffers from "smartest man in the room" syndrome, but that can also apply to coaches like Shanahan, Reid, etc. McVay has built something here where the culture works and guys play really hard for him. I thought there were a lot of promising things defensively, too. Pretty much took St. Brown and La Porta out of the game. Verse and Fiske made plays. The DL (aside from clearly being run over in OT) looked pretty good without Donald, too.
We have to get the OL back in order, but as far as the actual play, I was more encouraged than discouraged. Even if Nacua misses significant time, if Kupp is back, I think we will be fine on offense (if the OL guys come back) because the scheme works and Kupp and the other WR's are enough. But if this OL situation is going to be like this for weeks on end, it's going to be really, really difficult.

Ha, pretty sure my post history would rule that out. I've been plenty critical of him in the past.

I with ya, Stu. Lot's could be said about this game, and I gave up on the team early on but they really fought, and against a really, really good team with a REAL home field advantage. When you're down to 3rd stringers on the O line, it ain't gonna be good. What I was really impressed with was the Rams one on one tackling.
This team has a GREAT QB and Coop is just the best. I like them on the field and who they seem to be off. Oh yeah, and I really like the coach.
Here they are and here they humbly explain the game:

The injuries are looking pretty bad. Noteboom has a high ankle sprain. Dotson has a foot injury. Avila is an IR candidate with his knee injury and so is Puka, according to McVay.
EDIT: McVay clarifies that Puka is going on IR, so he's out at least 4 games.

Brutal! With the way they were going below the knees at Stafford, the team is lucky* since at least he's still standing.
*Or more like, if is wasn't for bad luck, they'd have no luck at all.
(Even thought this was in Detroit, I'd say there is something in the air in SoCal considering Dodgers pitchers, so I guess they brought it with them.) _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

Fortunately, Noteboom's contract expires after this season. He's just too unreliable. The guy hasn't played a full season since he was a rookie.
Aiden Hutchinson and the Lions defense is a tough match up for anyone so I'll give McClendon a pass.. Howver, things are looking very shaky on the OL, especially with Havenstein and Higbee out as well. I wasn't surprised McVay had Staff making a lot of quick throws yesterday. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant
Stafford had the 2nd most passing yards this week which is crazy considering how banged up our offensive line was. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
I hate to say this is a must win but statistically teams that start the season 0-2 don't have a very good chance of making the playoffs. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.

Found this tidbit:
Going back to 1990, only 31 of the 270 teams that started 0-2 in the regular season reached the playoffs. That's a slim success rate of 11.5%.
So not only the Rams, but teams like Cincinnati, NY Jets, Baltimore, Green Bay and other teams that thought they were a lock for the playoffs better plan on winning this week or it is really an uphill battle based on the stat above. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny
Havenstein had a full practice today and looks like he will play Sunday. That's good news.
Rams are a slight underdog (1 point) but I like them to win this game.
Arizona is not a great team nor a great home field advantage. Rams are better overall and should win even though the loss of Nacua is big. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny
I'm keeping an eye on Mcvays playcalls today. Specifically the run plays. Too many runs right up the gut rather than utilizing our speed _________________ "Dread it, run from it... destiny arrives all the same."
