I don’t think it matters who plays the game, the Super Bowl is an event. Whoever plays doesn’t matter, it will be watched. I’ve been to many Super Bowl parties but never to a World Series or NBA Finals party.

Obviously the fact that both WS and NBA Finals are 7 game series when you never known (with the exception of game 7) if someone is going to clinch the series or when that game will take place ahead of time has a lot to do with that.

I agree and that was part of my point. The Super Bowl is an event and it’s going to continue to draw large ratings no matter who plays.

Steven A Smith can't help but (once again) reveal what a miserable ,misogynistic POS he is:

Stephen A. Smith blasts Serena Williams for Super Bowl halftime cameo

Quote:
“If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass, ‘cause clearly you don’t belong with me,” Smith said during a segment of First Take. “What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”

Which makes sense until you realize that some SBs draw much bigger audiences than others . . .

He hangs with Sean Hannity now. Maybe Kendrick's lyrics hit a bit close to home.

He's such an intolerable and disgusting blowhard . . . and that's what he does in public . . . just think what he must be like in private.

Why did he comment on her appearance? Uncalled for.

NEW - 2028 Democratic Primary Poll

đŸ”” Harris 33%
đŸ”” Buttigieg 9%
đŸ”” Newsom 7%
đŸ”” Aoc 6%
đŸ”” Shapiro 3%
đŸ”” Walz 3%
đŸ”” Stephen A. Smith 2%

I don't like SAS as a sports guy but outside of that genre hes pretty eloquent with his thoughts. Most align with most here HOWEVER- the fact that he is even at 2% shows how shallow we are as a country and shows how little people think of the presidency.

I have 2 nephews who worked with him at ESPN. They say he's a hard-working diva. His circle is small.

Nah, he's the perfect example of the arrogant fool who thinks that using large words and being needlessly verbose makes him sound more intelligent than he actually is. It just sounds pompous.

He kinda backtracked this morning. He said he was joking but stood by what he said and challenged anyone who wanted to debate the issue to tune into his podcast. I don't buy he was joking. His delivery was too serious. I'm still a FirstTake fan but SAS lost some points.

According to Sports Illustrated, since going public with her relationship with Travis Kelce in 2023, Taylor Swift has generated over $1 BILLION in brand value for the NFL.

NFL's salary cap went up by more than $25 million USD for 2025, thanks in part to Swift's value creation.

Just in case anyone was doubting the business incentive for the NFL favoring the Chiefs.

NFL to Bench Chain Gang for Electronic First Down Measurement System in 2025

The long national nightmare is over for first down measurements.

The NFL is planning to modernize the first down measurement system in 2025, league football operations representatives said on Wednesday.

Beginning in the 2025 season, the NFL will use Hawk-Eye virtual measurement for line to gain, and the Hawk-Eye system will serve as the primary method of measuring line to gain. The chain gang will still work the sidelines of NFL games and will be used as a backup to the measurement technology.

No mention on whether the system will be used for where the ball actually gets placed or whether the officials on the field will still determine initial placement and the system will simply say of it is enough for a first down (basically just eliminating the need for the chains to come on the field.

My guess is it will just be the latter.

Adam Schefter just reported that Deebo Samuel has been traded to Washington for a 5th Round pick. Makes sense; Commanders GM Adam Peters came from 49er front office.

Commanders are loading up. Earvin's working his Magic. Surprised DeeBo only garnered a 5th-round pick.

Makes $17MM and they took the whole contract, final year of his deal, declining production. That doesn't mean that he won't be a good fit for what Kliff Kingsbury wants to do, though. He loves those short little screens to WR's.

DeeBo is a dual-threat offensive weapon. Washington is going to be a tough out.

Great move by the Commanders, they'll be right there again next season. It's amazing how they have been making solid moves left and right (after years of mediocrity) since Snyder sold the club. Bad ownership can really doom an organization.

Yeah, wasn’t Shanahan an offensive genius?

He's considered to be one, yes. But after they got McCaffrey, a lot of the stuff that they ran for Deebo, they stopped running. And last year he did get off to a good start but then, as is his penchant, he dealt with injuries and then his production really fell off. Kingsbury is not as well regarded as Shanahan is, but he does run a lot of horizontal action near the line of scrimmage, and that should play well with what Deebo does well. Additionally, McLaurin is better against man coverage, while Deebo is better against zone coverage. That's probably a good thing for their offense, to have a man-beater and a zone-beater.

It's certainly possible that Deebo will never be the player he once was due to injuries having taken a toll, as he's certainly been a physical player. However, at the low cost of a 5th Round pick, and given that he seems to be a good fit for the offense, it's a very good gamble by Washington. It also may free them up to use the 29th overall pick on a position other than wide receiver.

That is really my thing with Deebo. He simply hasn't been healthy enough overall and honestly is an overpay at his contract number at this point.

Another fearless prediction, uh oh!

The football gods smiled on Saquon when they allowed him to escape the Giant purgatory. He won a Super Bowl and if he had been allowed he would have broken the all-time single-season record held by Eric Dickerson in his first year with the Eagles

NFL
Saquon Barkley signs 2-year contract extension with Eagles, per reports
The deal will make Barkley the highest paid running back in NFL history.
