I had no idea what they were trying to accomplish on Sunday, it certainly wasn't going to lead to a TD against a defensively mediocre New England team. The WR routes were something out of high school ball. I wasn't sure if that was on the OC for handing out a brain-dead playbook, or if that was the result of the Waldron believing that Caleb Williams was so overwhelmed that he needed a very simplified offense. Another thing I noticed was that Chicago has dialed back on play-action, which to me indicates that it is a loss in confidence in Caleb Williams being able to read and process the defense after he fakes the handoff. I really think they need to sit Caleb Williams as they are in danger of ruining him.
Here's a bombshell:

Yeah, and those veteran players are the wide receivers lol. |

The Dolphins win against the Rams was a good win. Good because Tau wasn't injured. I shudder every time Tagovailoa takes off, even if he slides. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I was at the game last night and even though the Rams were not good, what an impressive stadium and overall environment. It doesn't hurt that my buddy has the VIP Seats with the "free" food and drink and seats on the 45 yard line.
The building is absolutely amazing and the experience getting in and out was not nearly as bad as I expected, in fact it was easy compared to many other NFL stadiums I have been to.
Suffice to say, the NFL made the right decision letting Kroenke develop the LA Stadium instead of the hapless Spanos family. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

FirsTake question was this morning was, The Chiefs are 9-0 but are you concerned? I am. They're winning by 1 score. They're playing the Bills this week. Find a way to win will be tested. If they get a 1 score victory the concern will not be resolved. Patrick Mahomes will have to come to play if the Chiefs are to beat Josh Allen and the Bills. I don't think this is going to be a 1 score win for either team. Y'all know I'm pulling for Patrick. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Yet the moron tried to tackle a defender after an interception by leading with his head. Someone needs to talk some sense into him. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

We were talking about it at the game, every time he takes a hit everyone is kind of holding their breath wondering if he is going to get up.
I think he is aware of that and making a point to get up right away and show no weakness as he knows public opinion if he takes another shot to the head is almost going to force a retirement. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

My ROY is playing TNF tonight, Jayden Daniels. If Saquon does another backward hurdle the building will topple from the crowd reaction. I got Philly. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

He's my MVP but that's short of what's needed. He has to get to the big dance. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Daniels appears to be regressing since his rib injury. Not sure if that's a coincidence or not. You take away the Hail Mary at the end of the Bears game and he's been struggling for a while. |

His rib injury may be partially the reason for his slip in play. He's also been playing better competition and the league has figured him out. Who would you put above him for ROY? If Malik Nabers hadn't been concussed he would be in the conversation. Also holding him back is he plays for the Giants. Danny ain't dropping no Dimes. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Dan Quinn needs an "Assistant Fourth Quarter Coach". His reputation is already compromised due to his 28-3 implosion in SB LI, and last night just added another log to the fire. With Washington down two scores with 4:38 remaining, his team ate lots of time off the clock as they sauntered across the field to score, eating the game clock down to 38 seconds. That was insane. Advancing the ball against a prevent defense should be brisk, time-effective, no-huddle series of downs. Yet for some reason that Washington teams seemed all too willing to generate a garbage-time score at their leisure, which is exactly what Phili wanted.
Is it a series of bad coaching decisions? Had the players simply given-up? Is there a leadership problem on the field or on the sidelines? In all probability Washington would have lost, but they showed a serious lack of fight late in the fourth quarter. |

And Quinn made a bad decision in the 4th quarter at a critical time. Washington was only down 12-10 with about 6 minutes left, and after having 2nd and inches from around the Philly 23, they went backwards on 2 straight running plays to make it 4th and 2. Even analytics said to kick the FG there. They went for it and missed. I mean, get the lead in the game! You force Philly into virtual do-or-die possession, the pressure is on them, and, oh by the way, their kicker had missed 2 field goals and an extra point. This craze of going for it on 4th down has become ridiculous. TAKE THE LEAD IN THE FOOTBALL GAME LATE IN THE 4TH QUARTER! And then Philly did go down and, with less pressure, scored a TD. But had they kicked the field goal, when Washington got the ball back they still would have only been down by one score. They were down by 9 instead and from there, they were in dire straits.
And you're absolutely right, that last Washington TD drive was painful to watch because they rendered it meaningless. They actually had the ball near the Philly 20 with just under 3 minutes left, and still having 2 timeouts left as well. I mean, if you get a TD there pretty quickly, you give yourself a chance. And here's where I blame OC Kliff Kingsbury. He's the one calling the plays. They called a draw play on 2nd and 1, then another running play, and that was followed by about 2 or 3 dump-off passes in a row inbounds which ran the clock. I couldn't believe what I was watching. And it must be said, some of this also falls on Daniels himself. You should know that you can't be bleeding clock there and your passes need to either be to the sideline or you have to go for the end zone. |

I am still big on Daniels, but I do worry about injury with his frame. He is so dynamic being able to turn broken plays into big gains by running but taking a lot of big shots would not seem to be a good idea for him with his thin build. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

If they win, it will be because they probably have the best offensive line in football. Goff is getting a ton of credit but he's really no different than the guy he was with the Rams. Once the Rams' OL started to deteriorate, he was a sitting duck back there and he doesn't elevate anything. It's the same story now. You get pressure on Goff and he wilts. And he doesn't challenge down the field even when times are good. He's basically a good game manager who runs Ben Johnson's outstanding scheme. But you saw last week without their usual LT (Decker) that he was pressured more and while the 5 INT's were an outlier, it still illustrates the point.
If they can get the #1 seed, they'll only have to win 3 playoff games to win the Super Bowl. They'll have to hope that no team can really pressure Goff consistently in any of those 3 games. If they get that, sure, they have as good of a shot as anybody. Still, I have questions that they can win a championship with him as the QB. I just feel like virtually every championship team faces a game in the playoffs where you need the QB to elevate his team, to actually make it happen. And I'm not sure that he can. |

It is amazing how they continue to win one score games, I want to bet Buffalo but KC's record as an underdog is scary good. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

It's a toss up. Bills are 2.5-point favorites. I'd take KC. Ravens are -3.5. I'd take the Ravens. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Every Ravens game is a heart attack.
It's part of the experience (unfortunately) nowadays.
