They saw the injury musical chairs game that AD and LeBron were playing in the 2020-2021 season, panicked and thought they needed a third “star” to keep at least 2 stars active at any given time. Sacrificed way too much for the wrong “star”.

Step 2. New owners fire everyone (with exception of maybe a couple of worthy people from scouting department).

Fire the scouting department too. Any top GM will want his own people and not the Buss boys

Yeah wasn’t even talking Buss Boys, maybe they have some people in the org that have an eye for scouting, but don’t get the credit as they work for the Buss boys.

New owner can figure it all out. Just end this bull (bleep) kids of a legend ownership group.

this is what Jeannie wants all along. feel good story, players' tributes, retirement farewell tours. she uses those thing to mask her inability to hire the right person to form a championship team. current Lakers is the reason why people hates hollywood and LA in general, too much superficial stuff, attention grabbers, not an ounce of substance.

Jeanie is an idiot and I wish fans and the media would start holding her and Rob Pelinka accountable for this crap roster and crap coach they hired.

Seriously she only got his work ethic and ambition but none of his brilliance and hearing her talk makes her seem clueless and a daddy's girl who only wants to impress her daddy

No, she didn't get his work ethic or ambition. She focuses her time on her idiotic Women in Wrestling venture and never addresses the Lakers fanbase as a leader of this franchise. She sucks....

The Hulu documentary provided incredible insight into Jeanie's mentality and approach to running a sports franchise. The doc did a deep dive into Jeanie's background and career pre-Lakers, and her entire focus was driving ticket sales. She discusses the value of maintaining consistent ticket sales and the importance of season ticket holders to the bottom line. Every time she discussed how she runs the team, she provided some exposition about selling tickets and keeping people in the seats.

In fact, I thought the most enlightening tidbit in the documentary was the story about the 2014 offseason. Jeanie tells the story of how she and the siblings were immensely concerned that the Lakers had missed the playoffs for the first time in 9 years. She says they had a family meeting to confront Jim and ask him how he'll rebuild the franchise, and that a driving concern was that multiple losing seasons would lead to, you may have guessed it, a decline in ticket sales and prices. This is the meeting in which Jim promised that he'd return the Lakers back to prominence in about 3 years.

The story is almost laughable due to the shock and horror in which Jeanie and the siblings present this scenario that Lakers fans at the time were acutely aware of — Kobe had torn his Achilles and broken his kneecap within one season, the two major retooling trades failed (The Veto and Dwight leaving in FA), and the Lakers were clearly beginning a rebuild. It was obvious that the Lakers weren't going to make the playoffs.

It's even more laughable that the documentary was being filmed in the last couple years because Jeanie has managed to miss the playoffs with LeBron James twice (as many times as LeBron had missed the playoffs in his 15-year career prior to the Lakers), after removing Jim based on the conceit that the Lakers can't miss the playoffs, not even for a year.

But I believe many of the Lakers' major mistakes in recent years are due to Jeanie's star-hunting MO. Ticket sales are her North Star. This is why she flippantly referred to Russell Westbrook as the Lakers' best player. She clarified that she meant "most consistent," due to games played. But these two things might as well be the same to Jeanie Buss. Because Russell Westbrook is a superstar who plays all the games and can fill seats at a high price, in her view.

I don't believe Jeanie has the ability to get into the mindset that it takes to build a DYNASTY. Because, sometimes, it takes hardship and rebuilding and dark times to build a dynasty. And that means a decline in ticket sales and prices, which is how Jeanie measures her own success. Jeanie doesn't see how, for a sports team, once you go through the hardship and get through to the other side, that is when your team can experience long-term sustained excellence.

Lakers keep their luxury tax penalty for this season neutral at $45M and still have one open roster spot.

I know fans will always point to the tax. Just fyi.
Anyway, great trade.

The real question is, whether, or how much, Jeanie is willing to pay for repeater tax for a mediocre team.

I was saying moves were predicated, based on them, mainly Bron, until Klutch got kicked out the front office.

For the Lakers to finish the season .500 they need to go 15-9 the rest of the way, or a 62.5% winning percentage. The Lakers have not played at a 62.5% winning clip since the title season, and before that not since the 2010-2011 season.

Sell the (bleep) team Jeanie.

2010-2011? (bleep) unacceptable.

They aren’t sniffing 62.5% rest of way. Haven’t shown anything remotely capable of that.

If this team gets its chemistry back, I think its more than possible. 51 win clip is really not all that impressive if you think about it and definitely doable if not likely if this team gets on the same page

So far she has failed miserably in doing that during her 10 years as Lakers governor. Anyone who gives her any credit for the 2020 championship is an idiot because it was all Lebron. Without Lebron, we could have been looking at 8 out of 10 years of missing the playoffs without a championship.

The fans pressured her into going all in... AD and Bron was what the fans wanted as the "superteam" strategy is the sexiest..

Reality is that we drafted well and had a solid foundation for success.. We then did blow it up for AD and Bron...

Ingram, Randle, DLo, Clarkson, Ball, Kuzma to name a few..

Would rather have a combo of that than to have AD and Bron rn to be honest.

When you take the attitude "she gets all the blame for the bad, and none of the credit for the good," you're pretty much saying there's no reason to even have a discussion. You've declared that no matter what happens you're going to stack the deck so she can never be viewed favorably.

To be fair, I think you need to consider the totality of what happened while she's been in charge. You can't simply pick the bad things and forget about the good things.

What credit do you think should get for the good, i.e. for the process to the championship? Considering the totality.

I’m so tired of being half ass serious about a (bleep) play-in spot.

Sell the (bleep) team. At least Guggenheim is serious about competing for a World Series every season.

Gtfo if you aren’t serious. You are no different than Jim.
