This is an easy no-brainer. DeRozan is the best player in the trade, by far.

Green, Kuzma and McGee for DeRozan does the trick.

Don't really want to hear about all of DeRozan's downsides... The dude can score, big time. The Lakers will need more guys who can create their own offense, given that LeBron is likely to take several games off this year because of his age and the short layoff.

I'm also concerned that:

1. Green's wheels will fall off this upcoming year. Had an achilles concern during the Bubble apparently.

2. Kuz isn't going to be extended. So we will have to deal with passive/aggressive social media stuff all year. Are we really going to extend Kuz next year?

The negative is that you're trading two big wing defenders for a total non-defender in DD.

Sure. But you'll have free agency to address that. Getting a 22ppg playmaker is not usually an easy task. And he's on an expiring deal?

Not a lot of 3&D wings out there, but a lot of teams that want them.

DeRozan is DLo bad on defense and he'd be another non-spacer on a shooting deficient team. His 22ppg may not add anything meaningful to the offense except ending second unit scoring droughts against the Timberwolves in February.

DeRozan is athletic. Think his defense would improve under Vogel with the mentality the team has. Even Kuz was a defensive liability until 2019. DeRozan is a decent playmaker too. My only issue his inability to shoot 3s.

Our team identity is defense and everyone can switch. On offense, we need a floor spacer and someone who does those little things like setting screens, etc. I don’t see how DeRozan can fit that role especially the playoff.

So type of regular season move that I am not a fan of. DeRozan can certainly fill up the stat sheet. He can initiate and make plays and gives us chance to load manage Lebron.

But comes playoff with Lebron ball on offense and defense becomes a must. I can see that Glenn Rice 4th quarter role in our playoff run.

PG: James
SG: KCP/Bradley
SF: DeRozan
PF: Davis
C: Ibaka

Is this a starting lineup that can function, given DeRozan's lack of deep shooting ability?

Some of you guys are so nuts/funny

This sounds very similar to when we signed Rondo and so many people were complaining about how he would be a bad fit, and spacing and this and that.

Demar DeRozan is a BALLER. 4x All-Star, 2x All-NBA. He's been a 20, 5, and 5 guy for the majority of his career. You get a chance to add a guy like that to this Lakers squad and it's only gonna cost you an aging Danny Green and disappointing Kyle Kuzma, YOU DO IT. Both have been wildly inconsistent and haven't really provided that magical spacing that everyone keeps talking about.

DeRozan made the Craptors into perennial playoff team in the East with Lowry as his 2nd best player. Now he would be the THIRD option behind LeBron and AD. I actually like this trade better than the CP3 one in a lot of ways because he's younger, cheaper, and more durable (hasn't really been seriously injured throughout his career).

In the playoffs everything slows down and gets bogged down. And it comes down to which team has the players that you can just throw the ball to and they can manufacture points in the half-court out of nothing. You add an isolation scorer like DeRozan and you can extend LeBron's twilight even further.

I dont see it...it's almost like a pact he's made that he will never work with the Lakers ever again since Pau Gasol to Lakers in 08. Hopefully I'm wrong because I want this to happen

Yuck. Get Derrick Rose for 1/4 of the price and get pretty much the same result.

2 HOFs and 2 legit two way players. You'll always have 2 playmakers on the floor too and he's off the books if that's still the plan.

Is his defense really adequate? Haven’t paid attention to him on that end much. I’ve seen some post stats showing he was the worst wing defender in the league or something.

Obvious answer is the team identity would change.

If Lakers lose defensive players and add offensive oriented players then the culture and results change. The balance will change.

Same as the identity of James sitting out games or allowing the ball to be out of his hands with any of the suggested PGs. James will not be the Assist leader or playmaker he has been in the past. Can James accept that role or the team adjust in style of play? Can the team sustain a system of the Big Three all needing to play 30-32mpg? We will find out.

That will be the big question and risk if these proposed dynamic changes or multiple roster changes occur. The formula changes, the results change.

If that's possible sign me up. Two bigs who can space the floor and three wing players who are instant offense.

If we did this we would need another wing for defensive purposes.

Kuz for all his faults did a nice job on guys like Kawhi and he is the only guy on our team who can stick with more athletic and longer wings other than LBJ.

We would need to have a Harkless type guy lined up and not sure that is even possible. Maybe THT takes that next step.

Nearly 6apg last 3 years.

Still a 22ppg scorer. Rebounding up.

I'm positive with LBJ/AD setting the tone, he will give more effort on defense b/c he's not needed to be a #1/#2 option on offense.

He's on an expiring deal too.

I'm down with it if it happens. We aren't extending Kuz, and Green is an expiring deal and looked like he was about to blow a tire.

^I agree with LakerSD.

Pop is constantly butt hurt about the Mighty Lakers and how "unfair" it is that we are NBA royalty and the *purs are an afterthought.

I don't think he would ever help us in a trade....more likely he would try to dump a bad contract or hurt player on us.

That said, I do like DeMar DeRozan and I would trade Kuzma/Green for him and say Bertrans or Paddy Mills.
