Another Big12 guy the last couple years. He has talent, and while his 3FG% was not good in the Big12, he was not to be left open. He did not have many guys on his team that could create, which left it up to him to create for others and himself. Forced into a lot of contested shots. Good size...high BB IQ.

I could see him going the route of AC, cheap couple of years, will be nice having as a two way contract player. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions!
Definitely could see him getting minutes for his three point shooting and ability to play the right way. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Nice, thanks. I like this kid. I'll be the first to say I haven't seen any of our picks play. It's just around this time of the year I read, and read more. I love the engagement. Reaves impresses me as a very intelligent player. A great basketball mind. His skill set will fit extremely well around the 3 of Davis, James & Westbrook because he doesn't demand the ball and can shoot it.
How about defensively Mike. Can he fit in for some stretches defensively w/those guys?

Super impressed with his defense and anticipation. Not sure if his game speed can translate in the NBA, but love how he decelerates at just the right times. I watched his Cali Classic highlights, before reading Mike's piece as i was intrigued. Man, Mike is so spot on. _________________ “God knew they couldn’t be on this Earth without each other. He had to bring them home to have them together.” – Vanessa Bryant
He needs to be signed to the regular roster. I get 2-way so he can still play, get better, and not just sit on the bench. He may be big time in this league though, given the opportunity.
The Los Angeles Lakers are planning to sign two-way guard Austin Reaves to a new two-year contract, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Reaves converted to a standard NBA contract, becomes Lakers‘ 14th roster spot.
Quote:
Second year on Austin Reaves’ deal will be a team option, sources said. Lakers have had success developing unheralded players such as Talen Horton-Tucker and Alex Caruso and view Reaves -- a 6-foot-5 guard -- in a similar mold.

Interesting. Not bad as far as matching where we have a hole in our roster, although probably way too green to fill it. Nonetheless, congrats Austin Reaves, I hope you play smart, learn fast, and find a way onto the floor at times when it matters this season.

Even if Austin's play is more encouraging to the front office and coaching staff compared to the other vets out there, I still don't see why they just don't leave him on the 2-way roster. He'd get a lot more time developing his game in the G-League than riding the bench with the main squad during a potential championship season.
Interesting that they went this route over Ennis or somebody else. They could have just developed Reaves as a two-way, or waited a month to use the remainder of the mMLE to sign him for three or four years. The best way to look at this is probably that the Lakers don’t try to leverage players into bad deals. If Reaves develops, he gets paid accordingly.
Nice thing is that this opens up another two-way, which may lead to bringing in another guy to develop.
