Reaves has some good potential. I like this move tbh.
Future guys will ask to go undrafted and sign with the Lakers. Just another area to get a competitive advantage.
They wouldn’t do this if he wasn’t killing it in unofficial runs at the practice facility. |

Not really. They could've signed any undrafted/cut rookie to that deal. They may have someone else they want to whom they want to convey the 2-way. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

For minimum salary players whose salary is partially paid by the league (see question number 11) only the amount paid by the team (the two-year minimum salary) is taxed. |

Have heard Reaves has been really good in the runs the Lakers have had before training camp. Shams followed up and said second year is team option. Think this is a player friendly deal. If he hits, could get paid sooner than his 2021 draft counterparts.

Cool. Hopefully Brown or Queen take his 2way deal. |

This is dope! I'm happy about this signing. |

I dont get it... what was the advantage of this instead of just keeping him as a 2-way? _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

I can't wait to see him play with other smart players.
Hopefully he develops into a high level role player. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!! |

Ennis got his chance and tried out so obviously the front office and the players weren't feeling him too much along with a slew of other veterans over the last week or two. I was a bit intrigued by Ennis but I have no doubt he'd probably revert back to his older self when he throws the Lakers jersey on anyways which it sounds like it probably did in the private workouts.
I'd much rather have a project type player at the end of the bench when we are loaded with all time greats and savvy veterans for them to learn from anyways so i'm cool with this move. It will be more fun to watch him in blowouts anyways which is the only minutes he will be realistically getting.
They clearly didn't feel like any of the remaining scraps left in free agency were worth it and they also obviously know they will be a top destination choice for whoever the buyout candidates are later in the year when we'll have a much better idea of what our biggest needs are. |

1) We save $2M
2) We can keep him with the main team as much as we want
3) We have an open 2-way for one of the other camp invites
4) We can keep control of him beyond 2 years if he remains a promising prospect.
5) We can waive him and try to shuffle him back down to a 2-way if we need his roster spot at the trade deadline. He'll already be ahead in $$, but some team might claim him if he shows promise.
cons:
1) We won't have a 15th or likely even a 14th NBA ready player opening day. |

but Lakers were already at the minimum roster size of 13... couldnt they have just rolled with 13+ 2 two-way instead of 14 + 2 two-way? that would have been cheaper _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

well, it's not like we make any moves without first consulting LBJ, AD and probably Brodie now. i'm guessing they thought there was more upside in giving Austin a shot than some re-treads. |

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
The league minimum is 13 but as a whole all teams included must average out to 14 roster spots. So if 20 teams had 14, 5 teams had 15 and 5 teams had 13 then this averages to 14 which meets the league requirement.
So maybe possible but need the right circumstances. However is it more prudent to attempt to develop more in-house options that can be economically retained during their peak years? Also this helps to buffer the roster from injuries. |

I believe working with Rondo will do wonders for his game. He struggled at times during summer league and learning from Rondo who can review film with him and apply teaching principles with on court sessions can only enhance his development. |

I for one am just glad we have another young guy in the official roster. Now Reaves can join THT, Monk, and to a certain extent Nunn as future prospects. |

Problem is the lack of positional diversity here, all GUARDS. In the past we always had a legit young big like Bynum, Zu and Bryant. |
