One thing all these LAL injuries has done: increased the minutes for some of the veterans that weren’t supposed to be on the court this much. Carmelo Anthony, in Year 19, played 37 min. vs. CHA and 38 vs. MIA, both OT games.
He’s 1 for 12 tonight, and been short on several J’s.

This is BS by Trudell. Can’t have it both ways.
It’s just not a good team right now. No injury excuse.
There are teams who continue to win. It’s actually embarrassing when you think about it because AD and Russ are still playing in these games. |
They are but our offense is heavy reliant on Melo and Monk right now to provide that 3rd and 4th scoring. They were no show tonight. |

And we can’t really blame them since they are on vet min deals |

With so many injuries right now. Our margin of errors is not great. We need those guys to show up pretty much every game right now. |

Why are you guys shocked by what Trudell wrote? The Lakers give him money for every article on Lakers.com he directly works for the Lakers he’s not gonna bad mouth the Lakers, those people are usually Stephen A Smith, Skip Bayless and Tim Bontemps. |

If you go back to last season even, the Lakers record without Bron = 12 wins 15 losses.
If you go back 2 years ago, Lakers record without Bron = 2 wins, 2 losses.
We're at 3 wins, 4 losses so far this season. Similar pace to last year. Unfortunately looks like for the third year in 4, Lebron is going to miss a significant part of the regular season. We struggle to be more than a .500 team without him. That's usually the case when you take into account 2 superstar model. Even without Shaq in that era, hard to stay above .500 if I recall when Shaq missed game. Kobe did his best, but we used to struggle to stay above .500 or even get to .500
Now we have went to the 3 star model, so that's even more reliant on the stars staying healthy. No excuses, it is what it is. But Lebron's health is a factor in where we are today. Westbrook not making the impact of a star, that's also a factor because in theory a Westbrook/AD team should be able to play .600 level ball. I don't blame the coach and role guys. They're trying, they're doing their best (well maybe not in the 2nd half yesterday or Portland game). But in the end, this team will always go wherever Bron takes it and Westbrook has yet to show to be a net + in the "star" role. |

Point is, making a case against Melo etc. not really the reason. Melo was due a game like that at Staples. Role players are role players (and paid as such) for a reason. It's the stars you need to carry the team. AD's doing pretty good. His numbers say he's a net positive.
AD 111 O rating
AD 103 D rating
We're a +8 kind of team with AD. Positive, star impact. Despite his flaws and not having Lebron next to him (his best mate).

Westbrook 95 O rating (WOW)
Westbrook 106 D rating
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/westbru01.html
Based on that, he's a net negative -11. 95 O rating in this era, is really bad for a starting PG.
Westbrook is a concern. He's not making the star impact, and is a net negative. I don't know how much longer we can keep going this way, but until Bron returns and Nunn/THT, it will likely be the case. |

No .. the 3-star model should be much more robust than the 2-star model. It *should* be able to withstand the loss of 1-star during the regular season unless .. |

Totally agree. That is what my point was. We traded for a 3rd star, but the 3rd star is playing a net negative game for us. I have been patient and will continue to be. But this is not on the coaches, role players and AD, IMO. We need Westbrook to be a + impact guy, and he's been a - impact guy, especially on offense. |

Almost as dumb as letting Dwight walk after the championship..
Now we have a bunch of minimums that play that way. |

BUT NOW - AVERY
Per McTen
As the Lakers’ whack-a-mole roster health continues, starting guard Avery Bradley is listed as questionable for the Spurs game after suffering a sprained left ankle in Friday’s loss to the Wolves.

Yeah Trudell is a paid publicist. He exists to make the Lakers look as good as possible. His writing is worthless to me. |
