This is NOT the most well written article, but I have been wondering what's the deal with all of this with the crypto market and how it affects/might affect our arena.

https://www.cryptocoinopps.com/la-lakers-kings-arena-to-lose-whopping-700-million-in-a-total-crypto-crash/

This is not my world but if anyone has insight on this - or a better source because I've never heard of this website before - I'd be interested to hear.

If there's another name change soon, I vote for Greater Western Forum.

It’s the arena/MSG losing that $, not Lakers right? So Knicks be the one affected?

Chyle...

In a statement, Crypto.com announced the exchange closing will not affect its retail app business. “We remain fully confident in the continued success of our market differentiating capabilities and offerings,” it read, in part.

Furthermore, AEG, which has a business deal for the naming rights of Crypto.com Arena, does not anticipate today’s news affecting the name of the downtown Los Angeles home for the Lakers, Clippers, Kings and Sparks.

I wish they'd put an end to renting out naming rights and just adopt something cooler.

I miss The Fabulous Forum.

Dr Buss was a trailblazer on naming rights, changing it to the Great Western Forum. Of course it sounded like it wasn’t even a naming right.

You wish that a business would decide that they don’t want to generate revenue? AEG isn’t turning that down. Besides, it would probably cost a ton of cash to buy the Forum name from Ballmer.

Crypto.com conjures an image of a franchise built as a pyramid scheme with no intrinsic value, shows great promise, then collapses in the blink of an eye. Yeah a different name would be nice.

I'm surprised crypto.com hasn't gone out of business by now. Still waiting for a new name. Staples probably will fall victim to the retail apocalypse so I don't think they could buy the naming rights again. Can we get like a staple company? Maybe TESLA CENTER or GOOGLE PLACE?

AEG is the loser here. Not the Lakers. The Lakers just play there - They are the leasee (rentor) and AEG is the leasor (owner of real estate)

The naming rights would just go back up on the market. They would still be making upgrades just because it needs to be done to be competitive with other arenas.
