So basically the US did nothing because those sanctions have not discouraged the Orcs.
(Putin annexes Ukraine regions in Europe’s biggest land grab since WW2 - BBC News)
Quote:
President Putin has announced the annexation of four regions of Ukraine that are controlled by Russian forces.
It’s the biggest seizure of territory in Europe since the Second World War.
The Russian leader’s declaration follows staged referendums in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk, which were denounced as sham by the international community.
President Putin warned the West he would protect the territory with all means at his disposal.
In response Ukraine said its application to join the NATO western alliance should be accelerated.
The United States announced new sanctions against Russia.
Jane Hill presents BBC News at Ten reporting from Russia editor Steve Rosenberg in Moscow.

(Jeremy Bash: Putin’s ‘Illegal Annexation’ Is A ‘Clear Signal That He Believes He's Losing The War’)
Quote:
Former Chief of Staff at the CIA and the Pentagon Jeremy Bash joins Andrea Mitchell after Putin “illegally annexed territory that he and his forces don’t even control” to weigh in on the state of the war in Ukraine and how Western forces have worked together to train and deliver equipment to Ukrainian forces. “This, I think, has been a major success: the unity of the West, the ability to deliver weaponry to the Ukrainians, the ability to deliver high technology like HIMARS, which is really inflicted damage on the Russian military infrastructure,” says Bash. “Russia took this illegal sham operation today to annex these territories because they're losing this war.”
Henry and Gabrielian met with an individual they believed was associated with the Russian government but who was really an undercover agent, the indictment said. The couple allegedly told the agent they could pass on medical records to Russia of U.S. military, military family members and other individuals.
Later, in a meeting at a hotel, Gabrielian allegedly provided the agent with medical information of two people: the spouse of an employee at the Office of Naval Intelligence and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Gabrielian pointed out a medical issue in the first record that Russia could exploit, the Justice Department said.
In the early days of the Cold War, this would have been a death penalty offense. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
(Russian troops forced out of key Ukraine town – BBC News)
Quote:
Russia has withdrawn its troops from the strategic Ukrainian town of Lyman, in a move seen as a significant setback for its campaign in the east.
The retreat came amid fears thousands of soldiers would be encircled in the town, Russia's defence ministry said.
Recapturing Lyman is of strategic significance for Ukraine. The town had been used as a logistics hub by Russia, and could give Ukrainian troops access to more territory in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

(Fmr. NATO Chief: NATO Reacted 'Too Mildly' When Putin Annexed Crimea)
Quote:
Anders Fogh Rasmussen was Secretary-General of NATO the last time Russia tried to illegally annex Ukrainian territory in Crimea. “We have learned lessons” since 2014, says Rasmussen. “We reacted too reluctantly and too mildly when Putin illegally annexed Crimea. And by that, we sent him a dangerous signal that he could, almost without any cost, annex also the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine.” Now, as the country pushes for NATO membership, “Ukraine needs ironclad security guarantees.” Rasmussen presented his plans for a ‘Kyiv Security Compact’ to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy –“The essence of that would be to make Ukraine capable of defending itself against any Russian attack.”
Sounds like Putin ordered the pipelines destroyed when he realized the west wasn't going to buy Russian gas anytime soon. Remember Putin is selling a different narrative to his people, one that Russia is constantly under attack. Blowing up the pipeline would sell this narrative that the west was going to hurt Russia financially and also try to get the Russian public to become more enthusiastic in supporting the war effort.

Ukrainian diplomat responds to Musk’s peace proposal: ‘f— off’
Ukrainian diplomat Andriy Melnyk told billionaire Elon Musk to “f— off” after the SpaceX and Tesla CEO proposed Ukraine give up some territory and hold new elections in contested regions to end the war with Russia.
Musk tweeted out a poll on Monday asking respondents to weigh in on his proposal to end the war: redoing elections of annexed regions under United Nations supervision, giving up the Crimean peninsula to Russia and maintaining Ukraine as a neutral country between Russia and the West.
“This is highly likely to be the outcome in the end – just a question of how many die before then,” Musk wrote. “Also worth noting that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome from this conflict is nuclear war.”
Melnyk responded shortly after: “F– off is my very diplomatic reply to you.”
