Anybody ever hear of her?
Yeah we all have but I'm surprised at the absence of a discussion of this female Magic Johnson/Steph Curry phenom and all of the attention to her and to the attendance/viewing records she is bringing to and for the WNBA.
She is truly fun to watch.
Right now, she is setting the record for a WNBA rookie AST/Game, leading the league in AST/Game, leading the league for a guard in rebounds, and has numerous other rookie records.
To be balanced, she is a turnover machine, in part as she is so quick with her passes and the rest of the team is just learning to be ready, and her FG% is about average for the league.
Maybe this explains why she was not chosen to represent the US in the Olympics, but there is talk that she might be chosen due to all the injuries to the team. Regardless, the coach or whomever is making the choice, clearly has no association with the TV network for the Olympics. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

I was waiting for someone to start a thread.
I gotta admit, I never watched wnba until CC. Heck I never even visited the wnba site until CC. I found out this year that Indiana had a wnba team and that it was called the Fever because of CC. She is amazing.
I read this morning that there is a chance she will be on the team because Taurasi got injured.
But I do agree with a lot of the people saying she doesn't deserve to be on the team because she hasn't earned it. But marketing stand point, she should be on the team. The biggest issue in wnba is that the players aren't making enough money because the league hasn't made a profit since the league started. CC is finally bringing eyes to the game and they should just take a ride on this momentum. From what I hear, the gap between the USA and the rest of the world is so big that Gold medal is guaranteed regardless. |

There's a thread in the General Basketball section for awhile now.

Also a thread on the Sparks that people sometimes just talk WNBA in general in. _________________ KOBE |

Been following Clark since the women's NCAA March Madness back in 2023. She's amazing, and it's unfortunate that too many agenda driven people have used her as pawn or a punching bag to make their point. She's admirable not only because of her skills, but for her maturity is rising above that. _________________ HARRIS WALZ 2024 |

She is awesome, but there could be 50 of her in the WNBA and I still wouldn't watch. _________________ http://chickhearn.ytmnd.com/

I dunno, someone else can correct me here, but did we ever hear the term Logo-three when watching a WNBA game before CC? _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

At this time, only one player, Courtney Vandersloot (4 times) has ever had a year with more assists per game, and she didn't do it until she was 29. She scored 10.1 points per game however. Also, her career average, best in the WNBA all time, is 6.7 assists per game. Caitlin, though obviously not qualifying with but a half a season under her jersey, is averaging 8.19 for the season, and obviously, her career.
Like 24, Magic Johnson is by far my favorite player to watch, all time: by far. This might explain why I so enjoy watching Caitlin. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

Possibly some of the former, but likely, mostly the latter. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

The WNBA All star game is like 10 times better than the men's. They actually play this-here thing called defense.
Arike (Glen Rice) Ogunbowale can't miss. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

I think the WNBA has had one of their best drafts ever with Reese, Brink, and Clark. Hopefully the game gets to grow significantly, I'm hearing about the sport much more than I normally do. Hope to hear more and more.
The Sparks draft pick Cameron Brink is injured, but hopefully she comes back better and the Sparks can start a dynastic run. |

My daughter has gone all in on watching NBA games. She grew up going to Lakers games with me when we had season tickets. So I’ve been watching a bunch of games with her and been enjoying it as much, if not more, than watching the men. Totally different game and in a good way. _________________ HARRIS WALZ 2024 |

Nice with against team USA. I wanted WNBA to beat team USA so bad so it was good to see it happen. CC and Angel had nice chemistry as teammates. But the highlight of the night was seeing Arike go off on all those 3s.
The way Angel Reece plays reminds me of prime Rodman. |

Me too, WNBA got it. CC Angel would be pretty ideal combo (just saying, speculating baselessly for the future, would definitely finish better than Boston, though less of a jumper). Angel is a pretty great WNBA player too.
Caitlin is having a fantastic rookie season, but it still surprises me that she isn't hitting open shots - even in the WNBA, even as a rookie learning, even though she's in volume shooting phase - a little better than she is so far, I mean open (she does get covered well) shots. 40% overall, 33% from three? But passing there, and I discount turnovers as an issue for a few reasons. |
