Kid is shooting 23/54 (42%) from 3 past 3 seasons, and also can rebound, Vogel should give him more minutes. He is 2/5 from 3 in the Lakers uniform, so it is already proven that he can shoot.

I like what we've seen from Gabriel so far. From what I've read about him, he has a good deal of defensive potential.
Hopefully Vogel plays him 10+ minutes a game from now on. I'd love to see him consistently hit 3s, play good D and run the floor/finish strong in transition. Those things would make him a keeper and a rotation player for next season.
WG is still raw but athletic. Wen-G brings energy on both ends of the floor and has a decent shot.
The hustle and effort is there too, he just needs to continue to develop his all around game and find his niche' with the team.
I hope we can keep him around for a while to see how he matures.
Would love to see Vogel finish the season with a consistent line-up..
Dwight
Lebron
Reeves
Monk
Westbrook
Gabriel
Lebron
Melo
Ellington
THT/DJ
Winning with WB,DH and Reeves all non shooters with super inconsistent D against good teams is just unrealistic. LBJ has to go for 50 to even have a shot at beating bad teams. Johnson and Gabriel maybe can at least D up and or free up LBJ and Monk to score. It really is a moot point though, this team is cooked..
At this point, you play him and live with his mistakes. _________________ "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." — Gandhi
Wenyen Gabriel is a work in progress. He shot poorly last game but he grabbed nine rebounds. He provides much needed energy and defense that should boost his playing time.

We need that type of length and athleticism at the forward position." Frank Vogel

Do you guys think Gabriel can become an above-average defender, or does he lack the physical tools to do so? Right now he looks overmatched defensively.

as a team defender yes. he would have worked well last year.
If he remains a Laker for next season, I hope he spends the off-season gaining about 10-15 pounds of upper body and core muscle. That would help his individual defense, plus his ability to score near the hoop and box out for rebounds.
