IMO Embiid will win it because the voters seem to hate giving it to the same player over and over, which hurts Jokic and Giannis.
Booker is a step below those three. Take him off the team and they’re still a top three seed. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
I thought Chris Paul should have won the MVP last year. His team has the best record in the league. Won 60 games. Suns were a perennial lottery team before trading for him. Made the playoffs, led to the finals, in his first year. Favorite to win the championship this year.

The Joker. Highest PER of all time. Leads the league in almost ever advanced metric. And, was missing his two best players. Remove Holiday and Middleton off the Bucks. Remove Seth Curry pre Harden trade and both Harden and Maxey post Harden trade.
Any of Jokic, Embid, or Antetokounmbo, are deserving, but I'd go in that order.
Jokic lead the league in RPM (by a fairly wide margin and best of all time--at least since the stat has been compiled) and PER (and as mentioned also best of all time), and if you think about it, most of his stats are very similar to Shaq.
Imagine a scoring (in PPG and shooting %) and rebounding Shaq who could pass like a point guard. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

Agreed. It’s Joker by a mile. Embiid kept it close early and was perhaps even leading but I think Joker pulled away. Giannis had a strong close but the first 50-60% of the season he wasn’t in the same category as Joker/Embiid.

Yeah, Jokic is putting up Shaq PPG and rebound numbers with 7.9 assists and 1.5 steals on top of it. Would you say he has the same (or greater) impact as Shaq, or do stats not tell the whole story? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Stats don't tell the whole story of how they impacted games. Shaq got double and triple teamed a lot more than Jokic does and defenses would collapse on him. He would dunk with three guys hanging all over him and then toss them aside like rag dolls.

Shaq is a top ten'er and had about 6 great seasons at 26. Jokic has had two great seasons and several very good. He's a long ways from Shaq. He has a chance though, as Shaq fell off after 30. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo"

Giannis, Embiid then Jokic. It's extremely close between Giannis and Embiid, but Giannis is a better passer, plus Milwaukee finished with a higher seed than Philly.
As impressive as Jokic is, he doesn't seem to make much of an impact on defense. Giannis, on the other hand, is one of the game's best defenders (and so is Embiid, but in a different way).
Sources: Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic to be named NBA MVP for second consecutive season
Quote:
Jokic's raw stats were even better this year than last year, as he averaged career highs of 27.1 points and 13.8 rebounds per game. He also averaged 7.9 assists, good for eighth in the league.
Jokic also became the first player in NBA history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a season.
The Denver center did it all without two of his co-stars, as point guard Jamal Murray missed the entire season while recovering from a torn ACL and Michael Porter Jr. was held to just nine games because of a back injury. Despite that, the Nuggets were still able to make the playoffs as the West's fifth seed.

What about just this season? Is that comparable to a Shaq season? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

For me, mvp is the guy who had the most impact on a good team. It’s not a best player or guy who is elite in both ends so much as total impact. How much different is your team if you’re not there? you’re looking mostly at the elite teams, but in the case of a guy carrying a solid playoff team despite massive injuries to top guys and putting up historic numbers? Can’t complain a ton about it. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel
