Guessing he wasn't satisfied with money. The next step is to gain power. It all makes sense in that he is willing to trade a lot of his riches for something he doesn't have at the moment.

My guess is that he wants to turn Twitter into a more social interactive version of Youtube/Spotify re: vlogs and blogs. Twitter wasn't (and still isn't) a viable money making company in the long run. It doesn't have enough revenue streams to keep investors interested. By bringing in high level exclusive talent and giving bloggers/vloggers the ability to monetize their blogs/vlogs/podcasts through twitter (with twitter taking a cut), he's trying to create new revenue streams.
Ignoring all the right wing stuff from him, its a financially smart move if only because he can't just sit on his hands or twitter will just keep losing money and become complete obsolete in 3-5 years. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

We'll see what the advertisers do. Alot have left since Musk took over.
Apparently racist, sexist, bigoted, and just generally discriminatory "free speech" isn't something advertisers want their products associated with.

Nothing Elmo has said or done regarding Twitter indicates his intentions are to make it a profitable venture. He's been very clear in his intent to weaponize it, even at a financial loss. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know
